I have always liked the way this mech looked. (though I never liked the MRM's) And was reading some of the feedback for it in the TR section. So I tried to incorperate that into the new design.
It WILL run hot if you alpha strike every round. But at short range it will have a manageable heat scale. Firing only short range weapons (3 Med lasers, LBX and 3 SSRM4's) will net you only 20 heat (not counting walk). Adding the ERPPC in will push you up a bit high (+35 -26=9). But you can compensate with alternating weapons fire or not firing something.
Anyway let me know what you think.
BattleMech Technical Readout

Rules: Level 2, Standard design
Mass: 90 tons

Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor Type: Durallex Special Heavy Standard

1 ER PPC
3 Streak SRM 4s

1 LRM 15
1 C³ Slave Unit
Manufacturer: Independence Weaponry
Location: Quentin
Communications System: Sipher Security Plus
Targeting & Tracking System: Matabushi Sentinel
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
During the Clan invasion, Theodore Kurita issued a general call to
manufacturers to produce more cost-effective BattleMechs, both in initial
investment and upkeep costs. Independence Weaponry, well known for their heavy
and assault 'Mechs, responded with a low-cost alternative to their own
Atlas-K: the AKU-1X Akuma. With a price tag comparable to the original
Atlas-D, the Akuma shares many components with the older design. By creating a
broader demand for the same set of parts, Independence Weaponry reduced the
overall cost for both units.
After the Invasion went on hold the demand for cost effective mechs
stayed reletively high. And though the original Akuma AKU-1X remaind popular
there were requests from generals and mechwarriors for some minor changes.
==Capabilities:==
The AKU-2X actually changes very little in terms of weaponry. The new Akuma
replaces the MRM launcher for a standard LRM launcher. This was a change both
generals and the warriors wanted, this allows for a better long range punch
and opens up the Akuma to experiment with alternate ammunition types. The
Addition of the C3 Slave also benefits the LRM 15, as the mech has a much
improved indirect fire ability. The older SRM systems were removed and
replaced with 3 Streak 4 systems. This has caused some problems as all 3
systems are fed by a single bin of ammunition. But as comples as the ammo feed
system is, it is still deemed a improvement over the original system. 3
Standard medium lasers were added to the right arm, movine the pulse to the
right arm as well. The medium pulse was removed due to mechwarrior disdain for
the system, and to free up enough weight to get the C3 slave in. To make room
for the increased weapons in the right arm the hand had to be sacraficed. The
LBX and ERPPC were left alone as they have proven to be reliable and
Mechwarrior favorites. Finally at both the request of the Generals and
especially the mechwarriors the torsos were given CASE protection.
==Variants:==
The 1XJ has often been derided as 'the same, only more so.' This has some
merit in that long-range firepower is further weakened for incredible
medium-range and point-blank assault capability. The ER PPC was changed out
for a laser and the Streak launchers removed. This allowed upgrades of the
medium range missiles and the autocannon. More surprising, however, are the
retrofitted jump jets which give the Akuma expanded tactical options. It was
this variant that created such chaos among Davion lines in 3064.
==Deployment==
The second run are just now leaving the factory and are awating purchase.
Surprisingly a few appear to be heading the the SLDF, and a few do appear to
be heading to Davion space ( at a huge mark up it has been reported).

CASE!!! You've given it CASE!! Yay!!
This is excellent. It follows the original very well, while making corrections in all the right places. The single ton of Streak ammo is somewhat limiting, but I like it; it gives the 'Mech character. A little short on ammo, but otherwise an excellent 'Mech.
Bravo, Stinger.

1) CASE.
2) Nice weapons, besides my complaints.
3) No MRMs
4) Upgrade the LBX-10 to a 20. The extra couple tons of upgrading and ammo are worth the doubled punch.
5) IS-ERPPC? Thats just plain wrong. A standard PPC will do. Too heat inffeicent.

The Ryuken-go have always been the chief proponents of the Akuma,
fielding this design in several assault lances. Other front-line units were
slow to adopt the Akuma until it proved itself during the assault on Clan
Smoke Jaguar, and since then demand has outstripped production. Recently, in
the ill-fated attacks launched against the Combine by Duke Robinson, the Akuma
1XJ made its debut in the counterassaults that eventually took the Davion
worlds of Breed and Kesai IV.

Ya know I like it. I was thinking of downgradeing the ER to a standard but thought that the original had the ER so it would remain.

I agree about the SRM ammo, And the AC ammo. would love another ton for each. but that would require removing a couple tons of armor or even worse heat sinks to make room. This poor boy is stuffed to the gills with stuff.
Glad you like it . Its always been a favorite looks wise. This one and the Cerberus. Just had a neat look to them.

I really can't understand Kurita sometimes..
I mean you build a cheap mech to save money but you gave it so much ammo based weapons that it will cost a lot in the long run !
Ah the dracs are interesting
still an ammo addict up there in my books but the increase in significant close ranged firepower is great !

Agreed. Merch at heart so the less ammo the better in my book. But this is a fun looking mech, (a huge weakness for me).
