Just a random idea that came to me last night.
The hive lands, probably at an already-established beachhead, disgorges the regiment, then either stays put in the relative safety of the LZ, or transits back into orbit.
Both the Beehive and the Soldier Bees are equipped with ECCM systems designed to punch through enemy ECM and keep the control signals to the drones from being jammed.
The Beehive and its' complimentary Bees aren't the best choice for garrisons and the like, but rather are intended for mass assaults, invasions, and other large-scale offensive operations.
You get all the advantages of a fast, suicidal regiment of armored vehicles, but without the expense of paying to train replacement crews and paying out GI bills.

Cool..
this is very interesting.. land two of these to soften up the enemy then drop a battalion of mechs on any weak points..

An interesting idea. Except for the risk of someone destorying the DropShip and salvaging your disabled regiment, it should work well. I'd consider smaller, battalion sized DropShips to be a worthwhile investment if the system were ever deployed.
I like it. Original, too. That's one of the things about Warhammer brand posts: oftentimes we get something that's quite orginal. Or, at least, that I've never heard of.
You might want to consider having more than one Soldier Bee variant. A longer ranged one likely, and perhaps a heavier (45-50 ton) version as well. And maybe a faster scout?

The Soldier Bee has an advantage the Scout and Drone Bees lack: durability.
The Scout Bee is a hovercraft: poke some holes in the plenum skirt, and down it goes. They can't go in certain terrain types (rubble is the only one I can think of right now, bit I'm sure there are others), which limits their utility.
The Drone Bee is a VTOL. They are notorious for being fragile, even with the level 3 vehicle rules.

The Drone and Scout Bees actually pack more firepower than the soldier. I think their armor loads are quite sufficent. They're suicidal, after all. Considering the 'fragile' craft pack nearly as much armor, but just have weak spots. Speed compensates.

Conventional fighters can't have Drone modifications; they're considered aircraft, not vehicles (they fall under the Aerotech rules).
