It's just one of my stupid questions, but I cannot find sufficient answer myself.
Is there some reason other than Vee item limit for using RLs bigger than RL 10?

Yes. And the reason is that there are many Items bigger than the RL 10 that are more effective. The RL 10 is only 1 crit slot, the LRM 5 is 2 counting ammo.

The only reason I can think of is having more than half a ton free, but no more heat capacity or other ways to add weapons. But unless you've got an OmniVehicle, you could be adding armor instead.
I think the real question is: Is there some reason for using RLs?

Theoretically to make machine (Vee or mech) that would fire a lot of RLs in salvos. This would require mounting really big amounts of them and having some HSs just to allow emptying the racks (retreat isn't problem, no additional heat produced). Something like katyusha. Heavier machines will probably mount MRMs, but light machines would make use of them this way. Using them on BA instead of SRMs would be another interesting option.

On Vehicles there is really no reason to mount RL´s greater than 10 (exept Item Limit!)!
On Mechs and Fighters it´s maybe a better heat management!
