OK I am going crazy. (I think, one can never be to sure of these things).
But is there a newer more stable version of Megamek out there? I am running version .31.0 and I can not finish a game that lasts over 10 rounds with a bot. (dosent matter how few units I have on the field 1v1 it still craps out after 10 rounds. or sooner). But it is really getting very annoying. It also seems ot when I have it lock up like that, it appears to freak out my computer, and it takes it 4 or 5 minutes to recover and finally shut down the megamek program.
So if anyone has a version that is better or know where I could download a newer version please let em know.
And I am always looking for a opponet to play against. if nothing else shoot me a PM and well set up a time to play.

You're not going crazy. That happens to me too. Speaking of which, I also have some errors... such as that most of the LVL-3 stuff won't load. Damnit!

Soemone told me that there is a new version. I don;t know what the number is, but he said that the AI is drastically improved.

That is a error known by the devs and has been mentioned a few times on there boards. Basicaly, they do not yet know what to do beside a few tricks that may or may not work. i just looked this up yesterday, infact. There best advice is not to play the bot if you can help it.

I've not messed around with MegaMek much lately, however the AI for the bot has always been a little freaky. The AI is not written or maintained by the main dev's, and the guy who does do it is very sloooow. However use the cvs repository to look at every version's history.txt file.
if history's contents for a specific version say that the stuff done for that version is mostly bugfixes, good bet its fairly stable. If mostly new features run, run far away

AI knows that it cannot win, so it rather makes the game fall, before it's defeated

I noticed a similar problem a while ago. I would set up a game with myself and about a half dozen bots, and the game would inevitably crash at a random point. Not exactly on round 10, but it wouldnt miss by much.
WHen I would play with a few buddies, it would work fairly well, as long as there werent too many bots being used.

| The method I use, which seems to dodge a lot of the AI problems, is to have two clients open, one as the host (me) and the other connected as a bot, not sure if anyone else does the same.
