Didn't they already have a mech that did something similar to this...either the Pouncer or Phantom?

Phantom C, E and H are built around small laser and micro laser batteries.

The supercharger is the only level3 tech here, so what about ripping it out for a heatsink or a 275 XL (ok , drop the number of micros from 26 to 24)!
Hunting vehicles and damaged Mechs would be most effectiv with this!

No room, really. I filled all the crits. However, if you look at the alpha strike damage...26 Micro ERs...thats quite a punch. Not to mention the great crit seeking ability, and without SRMs at that. I'd drop to supercharger only if I want it in a tournament; I find it far more reliable and light than MASC...

Ok a heatsink wouldn´t fit but you can make it faster with a slight reduction in firepower.
The punch is great though you have to get real close to hit (the speed wouldn´t be a problem but you´ll have to get into physical combat range for a good shot). But as long as you choose your target carefully this mech will be devastating!!
I´ve only one mech with a MASC in my unit but every time I turn it on I´ve a bad feeling!
I´m only activating it if I see no other possibility and so far I´ve been lucky!

That's exactly what MASC is for, isn't it? When you absolutely have to get some distance between yourself and some nasty guns to survive, press the button and pray. If you fail then at least the mech would have been dead anyway.

Most of the people I know use MASC for surprise attacks too. Some of their mechs were lost due to MASC failure while doing this and I´ve never understand why they take such a high risk! Mostly they had to engage MASC to get behind a heavier foe but also had to let it engaged to get away the next turn!

Im usually lucky with MASC/Supercharger...and really, if you have the Supercharger avaible, why not use it? It carries a FAR less risk than MASC...just a single crit to the engine. Annoying yes, but Its far better than being frozen...

The use of level 3 tech in our games is strictly regulated!
So I have not get my hands on it and so have not made any experience with it!
I´ve constructed some mechs with it but have not tried them out!

A friend of mine would love this. He always enjoys the imagery of slicing and dicing another mech with laser cutters.
As for MASC, I usually use if for tactical mobility. E.g. getting behind a heavier mech for the final blow. I've also put it on heavy mechs, though, to give them that extra MP for the final charge.
Nothing like the look on your enemies face when you 5/3/5 mech suddenly charges the last six hexes and lays into them with a cleaver.
Actually doesn't work as often as I'd like. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

Sorry, 3/5/3.
Whatever. The point is it makes that last rush quicker than they expected. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

I like the concept. I did the same thing with MG for my 65 ton Lost Crusade. I wanted to see what a mech would look like with every spot filled with the same weapon. This little thing would tear up other lights. Good for one or two surprises to unsuspecting opponents.
