I have a troll on a bulletin board I moderate. He is an AOL user, so banning is IP is out. He gets a new one every time he posts. Other than going in and blowing away his venemous messages every time he posts, how would the other board ops here suggest I deal with this little bastard?

You don't need to register on those messageboards.
My best advice to Hardware is to simply have the "adults" on your board ignore him. I'd also suggest having another user that you trust help moderate.
Other than that forward his posts (with headers turned on if possible) to abuse@aol.com

How about banning ALL AOL-IP adresses for at least a weak ?

If it gets bad enough you`ll just have to do as Nic Jansma did with Sarna. And several other sites do too, just to keep at least some trolls out.
Registered usernames required for posting,
possibility to ban users for breaking the stated rules. IP isn`t the only way to track someone, you might use cookies That way he`s banned even if he registers a new username, isn`t he? At least until he clears out all cookies.
