Somewhat expensive and slow...

==Overview:==
     The first Rifleman was built for Star League by Kallon Industries in
2505. Designed as a medium fire-support vehicle, this early model was lighter
and less heavily armored than the current version, and mounted Kallon Class C
laser cannon. Chronic overheating forced the addition of more heat sinks and
the replacement of the old lasers with more efficient Magna IIs and IIIs. 
     The current incarnation of the Rifleman, the RFL-3N, was first built in
2770, during the collapse of Star League. Arm-mounted Kallon Imperator-A
autocannon replaced the Mark II lasers, producing the familiar configuration
of two medium and two heavy lasers and two medium autocannon. Although
designed to be primarily a fire-support 'Mech, the Rifleman can hold its own
in close combat against lighter 'Mechs.

This variant only appears different by the fact it has a laser in the
Center-Torso. Once you fight it however, the differences become rather
clear...

==Capabilities:==
This Rifleman variant is notable for being 5 tons heavier and slower. Despite
this, it is still a formidable opponent. A pair of Mydron Tornado
Rotary-Barrel Class 5 Autocannons and a Diverse Optics Type 20 Large Pulse
Laser occupies each arm. These two weapons pack considerable punch, but change
the Rifleman to an infighter, as its enhanced armor indicates.

The design lacks a case for either arm, which contains two tons of AC/5 ammo
for the RACs, and if the pilot doesn't watch the heat levels, these bins may
very well detonate!

A single Diverse Optics Type 18 Medium Laser provides a token of backup fire.
Interestingly enough, the NAIS mounted a prototype Variable Range Targeting
Computer on the mech. Like its predicessor, it suffers from heat chronic heat
problems if it alpha-strikes. However, an experience warrior can
counterbalance this with good heat management.

A little slow for 3060's mech and with these weapons the speed may be even greater problem. It has thick armor, but XL engine may prove to be mech's downfall if the battle isn't static, because the mech cannot be pulled back quickly and rear armor would be exposed. If the mech served in it's ancient role as anti-aircraft vehicle, the weaknesses would be diminished, but on the field it may find itself surrounded by the enemies. I would remove medium laser for an additional DHS.

I think your attempt would be better served through something like this. Besides, I am not 100 percent positive, but i believe a mech cannot fire a weapon at an aerofighter unless it has a range of 15 or great. I could be wrong or using old data though. The thing, I do know though is that the worst enemy of any fighter is # of hits and not amount of damage on average so use the lighter RAC/2s instead of the 5s.

I think you would like my \'Mech call Fly Swatter.

As much as I scorn the RAC/2, your Rifleman is a pretty good one. I think Ultra/5s would be better in the average damage department. But I think an existing rifleman has Larges/Ultra 5s.
