Well, I actually still have this one, so tell me what you think!
Though many denounced the idea behind the technology exchange, the Fed. Com (before its split) shared technologies with the Draconis Combine. A few designs were thrown together in rapid order, but only a few shone. One was an upgrade to the aging "Panther" design, a favorite among DC pilots.
The "Jagd Panther" as the FC came to call this new design was an upgrade from the PNT-10K Panther in almost every aspect. Suprisingly, no XL engine was required for these upgrades.
The basics of the 'mech were simple. The Chassis was enforced to allow for 40 tons of construction, rather than the standard 35. The Hermes 140 Engine was upgraded to a Audi Light 200, increasing the walking of newest design to over 56 kph. The Alshain Endo Steel was kept, a bonus on all fronts. The Lexington Ltd. Lifters were once again installed, and a 5th jet found itself in the center torso. Armor was actually cut down from the Panther design, the only down side to the design. All in all a full ton less is used. The results are still okay as most other 35-45 ton 'mechs have less mounted.
The real bonses come in with the weapons load.
The standard design, the JGD-PNT 1C upgrades most of the 10K's weapons dramatically. The ER PPC is upgraded with a capacitor, giving the capability of more firepower when needed. Two Streak SRM-4 racks armed with 1 ton of ammo each make for devestating close range fire support.
The more radical versions have also appeared on the drawing board, but have yet to be put into production.
The 1X replaces the ER PPC with a massive LB-20x AC armed with two tons of ammo. This design lacks any long range firepower and only equips a pair of ER Medium Lasers for support.
The 2X employs an Autocannon, Laser mix again, but the scales are changed. The AC is a LAC-5, liberated and reverse engineered to work with DC ammo stores. Both arms mount an ER Large Laser for lon range shots.

And if you use Vampire's rules for no torso-twisting (which I designed this 'mech with, I beleive) then you can add 1 more ton of armor, lessening its greatest weakness...

Excellent fluff boss.
Good design to. What I would do (And this just a personal preferance)Replace the SSRM 4s with SSRM 6s. Take full advantage of those lovely little crit hunters.

Recent field tests have shown a 4th version to exist as well. This particular version was found after the report was made, but it looks to be an original variant.
The 3x once again teams ACs and Lasers together...but this time in a truly frigtening manner. The Right Arm houses an ER Large Laser while the Left Torso (or occasionally the left arm) mounts an LB-10x AC with 2 tons of ammo. This version seems to be equipped with only 10 DHS, as the total combined heat from all the weapons does not spike like in other versions.

Why not just run an Enforcer or Enfield instead of some of those alternate 'Panther' configs you have come up with?

Reasons...
1) Enforcer is a FC 'Mech. It weighs more, has an XL, and the extra 10 tons really only adds some armor and a Small Laser. And it costs...what...33% more.
2)Enfield is a Davion 'mech. XL Engine. Weighs 10t more. Loses range of the ER Large to pick up some close range stuff. Costs more to field, again 33% so. And it doesnt jump.
So, for less I can field pretty much the same thing as Enfields and Enforcers for less, and possibly get an extra 'mech out cost wise.
That work for ya?

Not really. I do not see the DCMS doing an upgrade of the type you describe to the Panther when they have designs like the Bishamon, Firestarter O, Komodo, & Daimyo at this disposal. Un-necessary. Even from a cost standpoint as they will have to produce many to overcome the cost of building / retooling a factory, design team, etc.

Then call it a custom mod, or whatever you like. I just had to come up with some fluff. I really just like the name Jagd Panther.

When I saw the post I thought by the name it was going to be a Lyran mech.

If i remember right, the Panther was just the Lyran name given to the DC's 35 tonner. So...i kinda went from there.
