My sister forwarded this E-Mail from my cousin today:

| I received a call from Tom Sweeney yesterday informing me that Grandma Ruth had fallen and broke her left hip. She had fallen at Sunrise Saturday morning and they took her to Rochester Critteton (sp) Hospital. Tom is going have Grandma's Doctor speak with the orthopedic surgeon as to what will be the next step. As you can imagine breaking a hip at 100 cannot be a good thing. I was planning to go to Detroit on Monday for a couple of days and will go to the hospital to see her Tuesday morning. Charlie was there today and was waiting to speak with the Doctor. He said she did not recognize him and was groggy from the medications they are giving her. I spoke with cousin John yesterday and he also was going to go to the hospital to see her today.

My Grandmother just turned 100 in December I do not want to go to a funeral so soon after her birthday.

Damn thats bad, sorry to hear that dude. Hope everything turns out alright. They arent the easiest thing to fix but its suprising what they can do these days. She'll be in good hands.

All my hopes and prayers go out to you, your family, and especially your grandmother. Wanallo is right. She is in good hands. Rest assured that all will turn out as it is supposed to (notice I didn't say as we want it to come out) in the end. Get well soon and God Bless.

That most certainly is true, everything that happens is for a reason. At the very worse, at least she did see her birthday. So there was happiness before it happened.

UPDATE
She was transfered to William Baumont Hospital in Royal Oak MI for surgery. She was operated on earlier today Beaumont Hospital is Ranked # 41 in the nation for Geriatrics and 27 for Orthopedics. That makes me feel confident. I will post up the outcome as soon as I get the information.

I wish at least one of my grandparents had lived to see one hundred. All will be well. I have that feeling.

My uncle Del lived to 100 yrs and 3 months. My great grandparents live to 86. All of them. My grandmother is already 87.

UPDATE
Grandma had her surgery yesterday. All went smoothly and their were no complications. she should be going to a nursing home in a few days to begin her rehab. Time will tell whether or not she recovers enough to return to the assisted living center she has been living in.
