Now, I have never come across any custom designs for towed artillery, nor have I ever heard of one, but perhaps one of you have. I know there are several self propelled artillery tanks utilizing Thor and Sniper artillery cannons, and I was just wondering if there is a towed version of either. Some may ask why, so I will say why. Self propelled artillery is maneuverable and versatile, but in our modern world they can be quite expensive. Towed artillery is more affordable and much lighter (Can be carried by helicopters), but less versatile. So, of you have towed artillery info, please post it here.

I think there's something about such in MaxTech. Field Guns for infantry?

Yes it is field guns not artillery but you could use the same rules. You need one man for every ton of the weapon. Not realistic, but this is Btech. The bigger issuse is the ammo. Look at the wieght, maybe that is why you need so many people.
A few items like it would take 3 rounds to change a hex face? 6 rounds to move one hex as long as it was flat. Time to limber and unlimber and how it would affect vehicle movement would have to be taken into effect.
But for the cheap and classic 20th century idea of artillery that would work.
AWAD- Long Tom C$450,000, boy for the cost of a Berzerker you could make a couple of batteries of arty

now in all seriousness.
BTech kinda has various sources that can be used for or already define Towed Artillery. First, which has been mentioned, is field guns. This allows motorized infantry to deploy any ballistic or missile weapon at 1 ton per man. The rules cover deployment, use, and fire arcs.
The second are hand held weapons for Mechs. You can adapt those rules for portable artillery. The rules cover armor, ammo, and weapon. A few rules to cover deployment, to cover fire arc, and ect.
the third is just the standard artillery rules. Off board artillery. Pretty much is towed artillery placed into batteries.
My own take would be to consider them as external cargo and use the rules for field guns. Unlike field guns, you only need a crew of 7 men. That is my opinion.

We have played with towed guns (AC´s as well as artillery)since the introduction of the J-27 and its trailer! We simply constructed armed trailers with a gun placed in the rear and no armor in front but some to the rear and sides(imitating the shield some older fieldguns had)!

Finally! I knew I saw it somewhere...
on p.44 of Maximum Tech revised:
Field artillery
Technically it's a motorized infantry unit with 1MP, facing and turret firing arc fixed forward. It must expend MP to change facing and may not fire when it moves. Any successful attack, no matter how much damage it dealt, destroys field artillery.
