Well, the ETA gang is back again at their business. They placed a bomb van in the new airport terminal, a few hundred kilos by the look of it since it blew up to plants of the reinforced concrete parking, and it's an open structure so the shock wave dissipates, so the blast has been mighty.
Sadly, two men, ages 30 and 19, are missing presumed dead, they were Ecuatorian inmigrants (think of them as Mexican workers in the US) and were sleeping in their cars and missed the evacuation notice.
They are dead for certain, if the blast didn't kill them, then the collapsing rubble, the fire and the smoke did. They just haven't found the bodies yet.
It's just that this morning I picked up my older brother who is working now in finance in Singapore, he was stranded in London this week because his flight got cancelled due to fog and had to pick a night flight for today. I parked on C tower next to D tower where the bomb was put, and on the way home we saw police cars racing on the opposite direction on the M-40 motorway, but didn't know at the time about the bomb threat. We had been at home for some time when it exploded.
Not a close call by any means, I reckon that if we had got another timing the worst that likely would have happened would be to be stranded at the airport the entire morning, well, I could have lost the car, too.
But it's a little disquieting. It's the first time I was at the new airport, and almost picked D tower for parking since it's the closest to the exit. But since I didn't know wich gate my bro would exit from, my bro told me on the phone to choose B or C since they are in the middle and we would walk less with the suitcases than if I parked at the wrong end.
It's eerily prophetic that we talked about the impressive construction of the new terminal and the parking towers, and how much it must have costed.
Being a gamer, of course I was thinking of the towers as Level 4 reinforced buildings and imagined 'Mechs walking on them and using them for cover, and how much damage the structure would sustain. I think many Battletech players have similar thoughts.
I didn't say anything since our mother got nervous enough after the news came in, but what I find unnerving is how those two men died in their sleep, there was a warning and police could cordon off the area and evacuate the parking in time, and this being one of the busiest dates at airport of the year, there were quite a few people coming and going, the police did a good job in clearing the area, but those poor guys were left behind.
I find it disturbing because I have many times dozed off in a car parking lot to catch up on sleep.
Well, I will get rid of that habit, and watch out now that terrorists are back (not that they ever left, they were just lurking in the shadows)
I feel angry that our airport security sucks, I don't think you could get a truck bomb into London airport, though in truth, the police have been kept on a short leash while the traitors of the Sotialists keep surrender talks with ETA ("peace progress" they call it *Sarcasm*)
*sigh* Is a bad thing, but it can't be worse than what we are going through, the worst was the 11 March rail bombings and the mounting evidence that police and spies at the service of the Sotialists were involved in that massacre. I wanted to believe it was perpetrated by ETA and ruthlessly manipulated by the Sotialists to overturn the elections blaming it on convenient Islamist scapegoats and saying it was all Aznar fault by supporting the US in the Iraq war, but with every new independent journalist finding, each hole and contradiction found in the "official version" of events, and every maneuver to obstruct justice, brings the chilling realization that those bastards in power now had something to do with it well before 11 March. We are not talking about a improvised coverup and media manipulation in three hectic days, but evidence points out to a plot planned well in advance.
It's one thing to profit and cover up a crime. Another entirely different thing is to be part and accomplice to it. Just as winning elections through the manipulation of the masses fear, anger and hysteria is one thing, and overthrowing a government with a coup is a much worse thing. That is a crime, and that crime is treason
You know what is the only good thing to come of this? That the whoreson of Zapatero has lost his last trump card to win next elections. He had gambled everything on that he could make a deal with the terrorists and be hailed as the peacemaker, since his government has nothing to show except their incompetence and corruption, and it might have succeeded because, frankly, half of the population of Spain are spineless, gutless, rotten cowards wich would gladly sign up anything to live in peace as long as the economy goes well and they can make the house mortgage payments.
ETA has made it clear that they are not satisfied with Zapatero promises and that their want to extort a much higher price, hopefully, total surrender to terrorists may be too much even for the Sotialist voters, _________________ Memento audare semper
