Lack of dice isn't much of a problem now. We've got computers, dice servers, heck, I've got a friend with a bait-and-tackle box filled with dice.
6-12 years ago when it was me, my brothers, and a few others who only did it from time to time (and when game shops were much less prevalent where I lived) there was no need to go buy bunches of different colored dice (which is really what we're talking about. I've got 20 D6s now. But they're all simple white and black dice, or red and white dice).
So, if getting a bunch of different colored dice wasn't a viable option, and there weren't easy-to-find dice servers (and even if there were, no one was going to let us tie up the phone line for three hours for that) rolling for a LBX-20 would involve between 10 and 20 dice rolls. Which could take 2-5 minutes.
Meanwhile, everyone else is sitting around bored.
So we house-ruled LBX-20s out of the game to keep it moving.
Which is the point of this thread. House-rules.
