Suppose you have the following units at your disposal:
2 * Savannah Master (green)
1 * Boomerang (regular)
1 * Commando (green)
1 * Centurion (green)
1 * Daedalus (regular) - this is the custom I posted, not the arena one.
Sniper and Arrow IV artillery w/ high explosive, smoke, and incindiary.
GIven this, what tactics would you try to use to bring down each of the following if you found yourself having to engage them? By this, I mean deployment, terrain, bombardment pattern, etc.
1. Missile artillery team-
LRM carrier (veteran)
4 * tracked APC carriers w/ rifle infantry
2 * Vedette
2. Field command team-
Behemoth MBT (elite)
Mobile HQ (regular)
4 * Scorpion tank (regular)
3. Armor unit-
4 * Scorpion tank (regular)
2 * Vedette (regular)
4. Hit-and-run unit-
2 * heavy hover APC w/ rifle infantry
4 * Savannah Masters

1. Stomp the Vedettes from close range, the infantry from a distance, and nuke the LRM carrier with artillery if possible. It not, just rush it with the Commando.
2. Artillery the Behemoth. Get nowhere near it. Use smoke to stop line of sight, if I must. Stomp the rest, as per normal. Try and get the HQ in one piece though...
3. Stomp the Vedettes, and shell the Scorpions if possible.
4. Stay under defensive cover, and set up smoke screens. Wait for a lucky shot. Under no circumstances should troops attempt to chase down the masters.
In general, I would attempt to keep near built up terrain, forcing the vehicles into territory that the 'Mechs could dominate in. Slower units would at least have pot shots taken at them with the artillery, though only that Elite Behemoth would be solely attacked with it. The amount of green in my forces worries me, giving me the choice between offense and defense usually, since if I try and split the difference, it won't work. (Or at least it hasn't in my personal experience.) _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

Run like a women unless I will run into these units seperatly. The Boomarang is the only saving grace. But most of the stuff the players is too slow and can easily be converged on by enemy units, less the Behemoth.

You CAN win every single fight. Not saying you should try, but due to the dice, it's not only possible to win every single fight, but to deal battalions crushing blows with lances.
Edit: I say this because yesterday my group blunted an assault in murderous fashion. Some of their 'Mechs did not even have armor damage, and yet the enemy was nearly totally destroyed in a few rounds. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell
