==Overview:==
House Kurita's Ryujin Omni-Mech is the successor to the renowned DRG- 1G
Grand Dragon and contains the most popular features of that design, as well as
several improvements. Like its predecessor, the Ryujin possesses a squat
profile that presents a small target to enemy 'Mechs. And like the Grand
Dragon, the Ryujin boasts an ample supply of armor, which enables the 'Mech to
withstand considerable punishment. The single greatest difference, however,
is the fact that Ryujin is an Omni-Mech.
Modifications incorporated in the Ryujin include a Vlar 300 Light power
plant, double heat sinks, the use of a Diplan M35 Longshot extended-range
medium laser, and the newly put into production Durallex Heavy Ferro-Fibrous
based off of samples from the LAFF. In addition, the tried and true Telos
DecaCluster LRM 10 rack has been replaced with the Shigunga MML/7 tied to an
Artemis IV FCS. These modifications provide the Ryujin with fearsome weapons
capacity and unmatched versatility and virtually ensure that the design will
become a workhorse of the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery.
Despite the introduction of the Ryujin, House Kurita has not abandoned
the earlier Dragon and Grand Dragon designs as large numbers continue to serve
with Kurita forces.

Yes, definitely yes.
I would leave the MML as modular equipment, but it is quite versatile, so it can stay... _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I like omnis with (useful!) fixed equipment and so this gets a "thumb-up"!

I tend not to like Omnis with fixed equipment. While the Avatar's medium lasers aren't so bad (and are explained in the fluff), mounting such a heavy weapon seems, to me, counter to what an OmniMech is supposed to be. Yes, I'll admit that the MML is less damaging in this area than some other weapon would be, but I still think that the base chassis would be better off without it.
What if, for example, one wanted a pure energy config? Hard to do with a fixed missile launcher. Or, if you run out of ammo for the launcher (or if the Tai-sa wants the last of it for his Sunder), there's no way to remove the weapon for something else. This brings us straight back to the reason OmniMechs were created in the first place - to avoid problems like I've described by changing the 'Mech's config.
Setting that aside, the configs are pretty good. I tend to dislike the AC/5, but it's accurate enough to what the original Dragon carried. I prefer the PPC versions, but I've always preferred the Grand Dragon as well, so that's not surprising.
On the poll, I voted "Other." While this Omni may be a good continuation of the Dragon, I have my doubts about its fixed equipment. _________________ "Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close semblance to the first."
