Okay I have two versions of the Puma Tank. Both seem okay expect for the price. One cost as much as some light to medium to even heavy mechs, the other is a lot less and packs about the same firepower.

What I am asking for here is which one would be the best to go with Hussar APC I posted earlier? So here are both versions. The uber-pricey one is first followed by the cheaper one:

I would go with the second variant as i'm not a fan of XL carrying vehicles.
It is better armed too and the speed is just ok (the price for taking a standard engine).
I like the LGR but the first variant does too little to defend it at short range while the second variant not only has more firepower up close but also is able to support its main weapon with lasers at medium ranges!

The second one is also heavier then first, but it does equal out.

Okay one vote for the second version.

That totally escaped me Wink

If XL engines are "normal" in your universe you can decide otherwise.

They are around, they haven't taken over as the standard that's all you can get engine. Fusions are more common for the most part.

Since you want a support for the Hussar APC I would go with the first of the tanks. The first wins for me because it's able to outrun the APC and thus it can follow it wherever it's needed without slowing the fragile vehicle down. I doubt that you'll always be able to get a good position from which you can control the situation with the long range gun so the first variant can not only follow, but also move to firing position while both vehicles are still moving toward the target or stoping to aim and moving again later. The second variant can't do this and the APC must slow down to stay in touch with it. The sooner the infantry is out of the APC and fighting the better IMO, since a lucky shot can eliminate the vehicle anytime.

If you aren't concerned about the cost then go for the first one and if you are, you need a faster vehile with standard engine.
