Okay I was looking over some of the designs and I was wondering if giving them smaller cockpits would be worth it or not and I thought I would ask you folks your input and ideas on this. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I don't like using them, but they can save some weight and space, especially on light machines. Some older 'Mechs look like they have them anyway (Stinger, Spider, Assassin)
The small cockpits lack ejection seats don't they? _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Small cockpits lack any sort of comfort whatsoever, taking even the small amenities you can find in a normal cockpit out. You also need a crowbar and tub of butter to get in and out. For this reason they work best for veteran pilots (due to +1 to piloting checks) and aggressive machines that the pilot will not need to spend a long time in.
Addenum: Also, small cockpits do keep an ejector system from what I recall. _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

1. Open the canopy,
2. Grease yourself with butter - a lot
3. Put the crowbar so that it's braced against cockpit edge and the shorter end is under your butt
4. Kick the free end
5. Hope that you land safely _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
