'From pirates for pirates.' The Raubritter started to appear on Lyran-Periphery border shortly after the 2nd succession war and quickly spread around. Woefully underpowered for a 50t combat vehicle, the tank rarely tries to engage anything that can defend itself. Most common configuration is a 10 wheel chassis with an insane profile (for a combat vehicle), which is most probably taken from some kind of civilian transport. The basic chassis is wrapped in a respectable amount of armour and equipped with a turret. A 180 rated I.C.E. engine allows the Raubritter to keep up with most medium 'Mechs, provided that there is some kind of road available, but the cross-country ability is limited. For weapons the tank is equipped with a single AC/2, which is barely enough to deal with improvised defenses that a typical farm can muster. The range of the gun prevents the target from being able to respond. The low caliber gun also prevents serious damage to anything the pirates may want to take. The ten-tube LRM launcher, however, is a different matter. With a few crude incendiary warheads an entire farm can be turned to a bonfire in the matter of seconds, which makes the farmers much more willing to pay anything the pirates ask for. The main asset of the tank is not in it's armament, but in it's spacious cargo bay. The Raubritter can easily load eight tons of supplies without any loss of mobility. This not only means that the pirates can get away with with the loot before locals manage to do anything about it, but it also means the a single Raubritter is often accompanied with over forty fully armed cutthroats. More than enough to overwhelm a typical agricultural community.

Nice idea! I think pirates will be glad to have this for "low-risk-missions"

i'd rather see myself a 50t fighting vehicle with a J-27 to hual the loot. its not bad but its a 3.0 DnD Bard... does to much and isn't good at anything.

Yeah, I know. It was made as something a group of pirates could make with a transporter and a few guns. On the plus side it isn't much worse than a Vedette. I wanted an armoured and armed cargo carrier and I think that this isn't bad at this role. Sure, if I packed in a fusion engine I'd get some real firepower in the form of a PPC or large laser, more armour and possibly greater speed or tracked chassis (and, of course, greater carrying capacity). Heh, If I wanted something with real speed I'd make a hover thing, but I wanted to keep the cost low. The main asset of this cross-breed over tank / J27 solution is that the Raubritter takes only one small vehicle bay. Of course that you can cramp vehicles in cargo bays, but it's still a thing to consider on smaller ships like the Fury.
