Well, you should note that of all the home-grown Concordat 'Mechs I have made, only two are heavies--and they are only 60 tons. Everything is mediums and lights. Good mediums and lights, overall, but still just mediums and lights.
Plus, the Concordat has to sell much of its production to mantain its economy. But there is a reason they haven't been invaded since the end of the Star League (until everything went to hell in handbasket with the Jihad and the abomination that is Shraplen).

Oh I understand and agree with your logic.
But don't get me started on the Jihad.
After picking up the TRO 3075, I really really really tried to find an explanation for the things that I felt were inconsistant with the Jihad. But still could not find anything that would explain the thing that bugged me the most. (Which was how they obtained the resources and manpower to both field and man so many units in such a small period of time.)

I think that You'll need to pick Hot Spots and Jihad conpiracies books to find anything about that... not that I agree with anything written there... WoB hiding entire worlds and space factories...

Its battletech.... when does reason and consistency stop them from doing something? The best reason is not good but eh is they have Terra, Mars, and Jupiter. Mine them roids and use the most advanced and unharmed factories in the IS... whalla, phantom force.
The big question is not how the built them but how they did so unnoticed.

Wasn't the reason they formed the Star League was the Terran Hegemony was rapidly running out of resources? Hmmmm.

never actually heard that one. Can u gimmie a source so that i can read up on it? I love tid bits like that.
Maybe Comstar secretly siphoned off raw materials over the last 300 years? How many unpopulated systems could be mined? Who knows when it comes to BT?
As with most things, when TPTB say it is so then it is so. We can grip, agree, or ignore it.

Somewhere in the Star League Sourcebook, Vagabond. I'll have to look for it this week (after digging it out of storage). Or, I could once again be imagining I saw it.
