==Overview:==
During the 3050s and first part of the 3060s, anyone and everyone who could
afford to do so began to incorporate as much advanced technology and new /
rediscovered designs into their arsenals as possible. Thus, the Inner Sphere
found itself in an arms race akin to that of the ancient Cold War, wherein the
two main parties were perpetually racing to top one another militarily.
But for those powers who don't have the money to participate, they're forced
to rely on older, aging designs, many of which simply haven't been able to
keep up with the changes in the modern battlefield. And with few companies
willing to take risks on brand-new designs that use limited amounts of new
technology (if any at all), the issue is one that is of grave importance.
Enter the Pinpointer. Ultimately, the Pinpointer was conceived for the same
purpose as the ancient Terran infantry fighting vehicles: a combat unit that
could transport infantry to the battle site and then provide fire support for
them.
The main selling point of the vehicle is its ability to haul several squads of
infantry or - for those who can afford it - five suits of battle armor. Even
in this day and age of technological progress, such a large amount of infantry
suddenly appearing on the battlefield can still potentially turn the tide of a
conflict.
The twin main weapons are a pair of AC/2s, which allow the unit to snipe at
targets from afar. Although unable to do very much damage, they can suppress
light units or fixed emplacements. Additionally, each autocannon has two tons
of ammo, allowing for the use of advanced munitions if one can get ahold of
them.
Supporting the AC/2s is a lone SRM 4 in the turret and a machine gun facing to
each side of the vehicle. The machine guns allow for a surprising amount of
anti-infantry ability, particularly in an urban environment; the SRM 4 allows
the Poinpointer to threaten other vehicles and even battle armor.
The Pinpointer is a noble experiment, and time will tell if it proves
successful.
==Capabilities:==
Game rules:
As with many other IFVs, the infantry inside the Pinpointer can fire outside.
If there is infantry in the vehicle, up to one full squad of infantry can fire
out of each of the four main facings (front, back, right, left) provided that
they are using small arms such as pistols or rifles.
