The next little campaign that the party is going to be involved with is the "liberation" of a Clan-held world.

The plot is that the planet in question fell to the Clans during the original 3050 invasion. It's now ca. 3061, meaning that the planet has been occupied for about 10 years. And since it's a border planet (one jump away from IS space), it's got a surprisingly heavy garrison; Elementals and solahma are all over the place, such that you have four points of Elementals for every mech and entire stars of solahma for every front-line warrior. There is a resistance group who has been fighting them for the past little while, but obviously they've not been able to do too terribly much over the years.

Given this, what kind of set-up would I be looking at?

How would the civilians come to see the party and those associated with them?

What would happen if the Clans did get kicked off?

Thanks.

Mostly its going to come down to how the clan holding the world treats the civilians. If they life in peace and things are going well under clan rule, you may have a very hard time getting any help to liberate the planet. And it sounds like the massive force is going to pose its own problems as well. I guess things you should look at are.

1. Relationship between the Clan and the Civilians.
1a. If its good, and the planet is doing better financially, it could be impossible to remove them. People wont want to give up a better lifestyle, if they don't have to.
2a. If its strained, then you have a better shot.

2. What are the available mechforces you are going in with?
1a. How many forces are you bringing. If the garrison is that large with the citizens on their side you will have to worry about being betrayed.
2a. And what kind of forced are you facing. Just elementals and foot soldiers? or do they have any mechforces?

As for what happens if you win? Well again that depends on the political climate. If the citizens are happy and enjoying a higher level of comfort, both monetarily and socially, they will turn on you in a heart beat if you take that away from them. If they are oppressed then you will be hero's.

Check Field Manuals for Clan units you'd encounter.

They would be liberated. Basically the liberating force(s) would probably be infantry in hovercrafts or VTOLs supported by 'Mechs.

Depends on the attitude of the other Clanners of those Clans. If a batchall was used and there was little to no batchall rules broken, then nothing. If not a batchall or was a batchall and many batchall rules were broken, then there might be retaliation from other Clanners of those Clans if those Clanners find out. LIberating forces would probably attack communication HPGs first.
