I think that inclusion of common sense is badly needed. So to the rescue!

DI Schmitt is so obviously wasting resources it hurts.
Just by throwing out the flamers and heat sinks you can save 8 tons, which will give you the standard fusion engine, cutting the cost considerably.
Going further removing one of the lasers could get you three tons to play with. What about one more ton of ammo for the RACs, C3 slave and Artemis for LRMs? Or vehicular flamer perhaps? Alternatively downgrade of the LRM could give you enough tonnage to install the Targetting Computer. Regardless there is still half ton for armour upgrade. Turret and rear culd use some. CASE could also be handy. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Yes, it MUST utilise the latest tech... orly?
You could at least go for standard XL engine... mere 3.5 tons apparently were too much of an investment. So, where to scrape them off? Enhanced LRMs are first offenders. Standard launchers and you are down two tons. It would have to sacrifice one ton of ammo, but there goes the third ton. Remaining half ton comes from engine "downgrade". Lighter turret provides another half ton to upgrade the armour. Alternatively you could downgrade the armour and keep the ammo at 24 salvoes.
It's still very expensive for my tastes, but at least not so much. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I agree with you some of the stuff is poorly designed and makes many of the TRO3050/3055 designs look like modern marvels when compared. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

There are enough offenders in those manuals as well, just with more stuff the disregard for using brain is far worse. post your suggestion as well. I'm going to throw in more ideas unless I see something better _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

What the hell are they thinking? Standard heat sinks, TSM and medium lasers...
Not that I consider the armament particularly well chosen. A PPC (perhaps snub-nosed with capacitor) or LL would work as well and it could allow easier heat management. This could also open the possibility to install light engine to increase survivability. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Well, I'm not sure what were they trying to achieve, but I'm sure that mining drill could be replaced with something more efficient, namely light vibro-blade or lance. What ate the DHSs for I have no idea - I'd ditch them for SHSs and perhaps take TSM if I decided to go for something other than vibroblades. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Hmm... they use endo-composite structure and light FF to... err WRONG!
Use full ES structure, and standard armour. That could allow for armouring some components, a HD gyro or "wasting" some tonnage on pulse lasers to replace ER ones (there is definitely not enough internal space).
Another possibility is going ES and standard armour, saving 2.5 tons, then standard CASE for another ton, drop medium lasers and one heat sink or half ton of armour. This allows for replacement of clan SRMs with IS models. That could ease the logistics. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

This vehicle was released in RS: MWDA1 in 2003. Any real update would have invalidated that ancient RS. The only variant does exactly the obvious thing, it replaces the Flamers with Vehicular versions and adds an 8-ton targeting computer. (Paying heed to the Dragon's Fury game piece.)
Things like the Violator (obviously has a Mining Drill) and the Storm Raider (stats were determined by a Dossier Card) had been set in stone some 10 years ago, too. Not much leeway there. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

I say indvalidate the Dark Age BS record sheet. The "named" vehicles (the ones with driver or commanders name) were silly. The chance to make them better or less clicky should have been taken. Clicky tech is dead, this would have a good time to purge things and fix things, we maybe stuck with really silly ROTS (please tell me the name will change please) but things can be adjusted to fix the issues. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

I do like these pieces in general. EC allows flexibility in builds like LFEs. Same goes for LFF and HFF. HD Gyro is functional though i've wondered if maybe compact is better. And CASE II, i know you said CASE, is nice for its function. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Yeah, they have their uses, but there could be more optimal choices... and the fact that clan tech is being produced in IS somewhat stinks game ballance-wise. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

To be fair, it has been stated in canon that the IS could produce Clan level equipment. It was just super expensive. The ever famous NAIS variant weapons. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I know that at great expense you can produce clantech in IS facilities, but it's still no mass production, or at least I haven't seen it anywhere. These TROs make it look like clantech is normally available for reasonable prices, which somewhat makes whole IS/clan division look like an artifical construct that has little meaning rather than something based on in-game reality. Is clantech a new standard for elite units or what? _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
