------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
When the Clans first invaded the Inner Sphere, they believed that their only
true opposition would come from mechs and aerospace forces. Inner Sphere
conventional vehicles had largely been written off, as had Inner Sphere
infantry. The Inner Sphere also had virtually no battle armor to speak of,
save for those groups who had either recovered Star League prototypes or -
like the Dragoons - were of Clan origin but refused to answer the call.

In the quarter of a century since, however, the Clans have learned a hard
lesson. Faster and more powerful conventional vehicles have flooded the field,
battle armor is now commonplace, and infantry have learned new tactics for use
against all sorts of targets. This point was driven home when the bulk of the
remaining Jade Falcon military was nearly destroyed by the Word of Blake
during the Jihad. Not only were the new Blakist mechs troublesome, vehicles
like the Pinto and battle armor units like the Purifier Adaptive were
particularly devastating due to how they defied the standard of warfare that
the Clans were used to.

A Falcon mechwarrior named Craw (later Craw Malthus, after he earned his
bloodname) made the decision to handle matters directly. Realizing that the
LB-10X on his Summoner had too little ammunition and too short a range to be
effective for this new type of fighting, he traded it out for an UAC/5 and
four machine guns. The combination of the LRM 15, the ER PPC, and the UAC/5
allowed him to snipe targets from range, often downing conventional vehicles
and light battlemechs in a single volley. Meanwhile, the array of machine guns
in his mech's torso permitted him to shred infantry and battle armor as he
found them; with 50 rounds of ammo per gun, he could easily annhialate most
enemies before him.

Based on Craw's successes, the custom scheme of his Summoner was soon adopted
by other pilots with functional Summoners. This shift in tactics helped the
Falcons confuse the Blakist forces, giving the Falcons a rare fighting chance
that contributed to the Falcons' eventual (if limited) counter-offensive.

It would have been better imho to simply drop 1t LRM ammo for 1t LBX ammo.

or to base the unit of the M variant and drop 1t StSRM ammo for 1t LBX ammo. I'd also swap the ERSL for a MiPL for anti-infantry work.

The minimum on the UAC/5 as well as its lack of cluster means that it is less capable against vehicles and VTOL. If any weapon should get swapped it should be the LRM for a smaller launcher or StSRMs.

I agree and disagree with Vagabond.

I agree that loosing the LB's ability for cluster rounds against VTOLs does go against the idea that this variant is intended for more anti-vehicle role that previous variants.

On the other hand I disagree about where their should be weight savings. I like the LRM 15 instead of a 10 and going to SRMs seems counter productive in this case as well. The AC even though it is a 5 class has the potential for the same damage curve as it larger LB cousin since it is an Ultra model and the real kicker for me is the similar range profile as the other main weapons.

Maybe toss something into the fluff about Craw's LB getting knocked out in combat and no replacements immediately available other than some Ultra 5s. He tried it, found it worked well in combat and the rest is as written.

I recall that MECHFORCE had an article that covered more variants for the Omnis taking off where the main ones stopped. They tended to cover a lot of ground.
