Merl could not have possibly played that worse. He should have be trying to drive your units toward the Annihilator instead of chasing you with it.
I have no idea what Mike, Tom, and JohnO were doing in that battle

And how was he suppose to do that? It was the slowest 'Mech on the board and he did the best he did by limiting my movement with his other unit so he was always at medium range. If he paired off against almost any other combo he probably would've done better. But he couldn't use his other 'Mech to its fullest because of my Battle Hawk being a complete nuisance.

He should have been moving toward the Annihilator, not just automatically jumping behind you.

Ahhh, so your tactic would be to draw an inexperienced player in. Not really force him to you but rather hope his lack of skill would do the trick. Unfortunately I'm not inexperienced, so Merl was doing pretty much all he could do. No way I was getting close to an Annihilator.

Of course you wouldn't have, you would have continued along to Tom...which for Merl would have been a much better result.

Exactly, he should've let me go and then finished the 6 of us off with his AC/10's ripping through very little remaining armor. So yes, in that regard he played it wrong.
