And I have run into a bit of an issue. I have a story element that I was really liking, but now I'm not so sure if it is plausible. so I thought I would come here and get a general reading on what I have planned.
OK so the setting is 3055, and our main character is traveling to Terra as part of a university summit to exchange ideas and whatnot in an attempt to come up with a viable solution to the clans. He is a senior and with the rest of his lance is part of a simulation battle against what they think is just a normal simulation set up for all the schools to compete in. (Though they don't find this out till they are done). the scenario is a standard city defence against pirates. They win the scenario with a draw, and the next day they are approached by Comstar on behalf of Victor Steiner Davion and the Presentor Martial.
And this is where I'm suddenly having a problem and doubting if this is possible or not.
Not wanting to pull units from the clan front, they decide the best course of action is to create a new unit centered around the winners of the simulation. they will have a support structure in place that will help guide them, but the unit will be composed of units displaced by the clan war. But it will be a new unit stationed on a farm world out near the periphery. The farm world supplies several nearby planets with food, but also supplies Davion space with a few special alcohol and special frozen fruit. The raids have been happening every 6 months and even though the financial losses were becoming staggering, they were being tolerated until the last raid, where civilians were slaughtered and kidnapped for slavery. More than a thousand people were kidnapped and more than four times that were killed.
So this is my question.
Is this a viable reason, and viable way to create a AFFC line unit? It felt right originally, but now I am having doubts. So please weight in. I want to know what the general thoughts is. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". Based on some of the novels I've read, this seems far more likely than some of that crap!
First, I don't think getting a draw against pirates (typically less organized with far inferior equipment) is something that would draw the attention of people. You kinda need to win that simulation, and doing so with some level of flair.
Second, in your store be sure to call them ComStar (capitalization of proper nouns is important)
Personally, I think with the clan invasion in full swing, I'm not so sure a farm world would garner much notice, regardless of what is happening. It's fr more likely hat the locals of the affected world(s) would unite and reach out on their own to form a unit. They likely already have a local militia with which to bring the units into. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Yeah, that is kind what they have done. They are footing roughly half of the bill. The only real reason it has the attention of the AFFC is the brutal attacks on the civilians.
Thank you for the input. I really do appreciate it. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". Howard Wolowitz. BBT.

Dang it, I forgot to mention that they were outnumbered 4 to 1 during the simulation.
But I agree with you. I think I will have to rewrite chapter 3's battle to make it a decisive win.
Pirate group is actually a Kali Liao rogue unit. it has been formed by some of her future Thuggee cult members, she is using the unit as a way to disrupt her brother, and the Davions. So the cultists have found the most disturbed people they can and are sowing chaos in the name of the death goddess.it appears they might actually be getting help from elements in the city as well. I haven't decided how corrupt the government is , or if its just a few malcontents trying to help the cultists.
I have them based in the pirates have star cluster right now. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". Howard Wolowitz. BBT.
