==Overview:==
The Stratosphere is the first attempt at a mega complex. The massive
complex is intended to be the hub of commerce for Terra. Or at least the that
is the attempt. The structure measures an immense 6440 meters around. The hope
is the Stratosphere will protect the system as well as help to transfer good
between drop ships for distribution to the planet or various star systems.
The Stratosphere is to be built in system and is so far nearly a third
of the way completed. the fabrication process has been done off site and
brought to Terra in pieces. 4 of the largest components are the internal
pressurized repair bays. 2 of them are for space craft up to 350 thousand
tons and then the two in the middle are for ships up to 1.5 million tons. A
total of 600 thousand of cargo space gives the space station an unprecedented
ability to store and sort merchandise for distribution.
==Capabilities:==
72 fighters, 50 DropShip hard points, 100 small craft, and over 40 thousand
tons of armor will cover the mammoth station. and a massive weapons battery
will help to keep the station protected.

Yes, its a drone suicide vehicle. It uses all the rules found in BT to accomplish its designated mission of being able to kill your station in 1 hit. BUT it would really only work as it is under 2 conditions: 1) target is a station or 2) a friendly controller is at just the right point to relay course correction data at the last minute.
Under the present drone rules, the drone goes stupid once its outside a certain range and continues on its present course. Now with some give by a GM, you could utilize aspects of the SLDF SDS system to allow simple autonomy. But as it sits, the drone is designed to orientate on the proper course and then accelerate for X number of minutes before going cold. Meaning even the smallest course error would equal missing the target by millions of kilometers.
I tried to find the rules for the SLDF SDS system but alas i do not have the proper book IF one exists. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Aside from drone limitation there's one more thing the rules don't consider. The ship will be some 40 tons lighter when it burns through it's vast amount of fuel. At this speed considering the use of booby traps is probably irrelevant, but would it become useful if more conventional approach, i.e. kamikaze dropship, was used? _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Yes, in real life it would loose 40 tons or so of mass... but in real life the amount of acceleration would increase as it lost mass. It would gain about 0.5g's of acceleration ability.
Overall, it uses and abuses the break in physics the rules require.

The primary requirement is simple: early detection.
In real life you could shoot a lot of projectiles in to the KKV's path and let them collide with them at high speed. It would take strikes that would pack massive kinetic energy.
In BT, ramming attacks (though i'd rule this as an out-of-control collision with a modifier, TW pg.92-93) are resolved at the End of the Attack Phase after all other attacks. This would allow the defender to fire as per the rules on TW pg.236 for Targets in the Same Hex. However, 160 pts of Nose armor is hard to get through fast and as a control roll check does no good as its performed during the end phase, destroying the unit is about the only option besides evading the attack.
And I would rule that the High Speed Engagement damage modifier counts even if a conventional combat round was performed.
And it should be noted, The same chance to fire exists in the High Speed Engagement rules SO pg.74-85; 84. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I was mulling this over as I worked today. What wojld happen if this hit a planet? If it could destroy a space station, then if it hit a planet there should be in theory a massive amount of damage. I was wondering that myself but didn't bring it up.
Its a WMD for sure.
The Object is moving at 0.0037 the speed of light. If my math is correct, it takes 0.1 secs for this object to travel 120 km. So in 0.1 secs, the KKV would have hit the atmosphere of Earth and then impacted the ground. The thermal heating of the air compressing before the KKV would melt the KKV and likely turn the air in to a plasma shockwave. But all of this math is WAYYYY beyond me to figure out. Big badda boom.

In BT, the KKV would perform very disappointingly. The KKV would suffer 840,750 pts of damage to its nose as it hit the atmospheric-interface, utterly vaporizing it. And this is a fail re-entry roll, it would never hit the ground.
You could simulate the effect of a hit by say reducing the velocity by half and then treating the remaining damage as a nuclear or orbital strike (i'd use nucks). Orbital weapon damage degrades by 1/5th each hex (a 50 pts strike (5 capital) would do 40/30/20/10/0). Nucs on the other hand degrade over about 20 to 25 hexes. So the KKV moving at a velocity of 1,696 hexes (half space due to atmospheric compression) would cause [100/10] * 1,696 * 2 = 33,920 damage airburst. This is between a Santa Ana and a Peacemaker, so lets degrade that damage by 181 (187 hex blast radius), a crater depth of 4, and no secondary. On an airless world, it would be 10*3393*2= 67,860 dmg at 373 degrade (181 hexes), a crater of 5, and no secondary. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

And this just confirms (to me at least) why it shouldnt be in battle tech. Imagine if WoB had used the KKV on some of the main worlds they attacked. These are scary.
