i recommend having decimal accounting (fractional accounting) rules become an official Tech Manual rule so that, for this unit, its internal structure only masses 1.75 tons, its armor only masses 7.4375 tons, and its gyro only masses 2.1 tons; that'll provide 1.2125 tons that can be used for 0.2125 tons cargo, and to upgrade the head for the dual cockpit from MechWarrior Companion or provide an additional ER Medium Laser (preferably in the left torso or left arm or right arm), because surely by 3082 such designing of this unit would be well known _________________ "Okay friendlies, you're not paid to be exclusively a 'MechWarrior', vehicle/spacecraft crewer, fighter pilot, or infantry trooper. Again, this is an official design with tournament legal rules. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

let's remember that in TRO 3026 there are conventional vehicles published, such as the Ferret VTOL, that do use fractional/decimal accounting and they are tournament legal, and i think cargo bays are tournament legal but i'm not sure; also, let's compromise by having the ER Medium Laser i mentioned included and have fractional/decimal accounting be an official TechManual rule; see i'm not promoting any rules i got from the 2nd Star League _________________ "Okay friendlies, you're not paid to be exclusively a 'MechWarrior', vehicle/spacecraft crewer, fighter pilot, or infantry trooper. Vehicles had the rules written slightly different and somewhat murky, but with battlemechs you need to round always up to nearest 0.5 ton since 4th edition if I recall it correctly. Fractional Accounting is not an official TechManual rule and there's nothing to agree with annymore than agreeing that train is a car. It's an optional rule and firmly sits in Tactical Operations and thus is not Tournament legal. Switching to Fractional accounting would require classifying the new design as Advanced or Experimental (I'm not sure in which category does this rule belong). _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

how about redesigning unit design program so that units, that are using fractional accounting rules, can be tournament legal?
because to deny units' understandable full potentials is to deny players that are playing against said units said players full potential of bragging rights after they defeat said units; or if you want the player, that is controlling the Wolfhound, to have bragging rights, then you should have the additional laser; or if you believe that either of these two options are unbalancing, then add the additional laser and improve the BV system to provide improved game balance
also, ProtoMechs use fractional decimal accounting and they're tournament legal _________________ "Okay friendlies, you're not paid to be exclusively a 'MechWarrior', vehicle/spacecraft crewer, fighter pilot, or infantry trooper. You're just paid to follow my orders!" So says me to my personnel.

Rules are as they stand till Catalyst Game Labs (or any future publisher) changes them. Any changes to tournament legal are your houerules and will be ignored by the public till Catalyst makes them official. That's how it works. If you want to make program that will use your house rules as default then go ahead. Just don't be surprised that nobody else will use it. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

well actually many of the rules i've used are nearly identical to the currently unofficial rules that were posted by nicewitch NatanyaSmith that the Australians do like as indicated here

i'm sure Catalyst Game Labs will make said rules official, later on. i do have concerns about her advanced ability traits rules for Ghostly Maneuvering and Poltergeist and i think she could require 1 more MP in addition to the 6MP for the Witch's Broomsticklike evading, though, and yeah, i'm not sure about her limit of +40 for evasive thrusting maneuvering since a +10 or +20 evasive might be more safe for exhaust nozzles' motors to keep them from wearing out _________________ "Okay friendlies, you're not paid to be exclusively a 'MechWarrior', vehicle/spacecraft crewer, fighter pilot, or infantry trooper. Nicewitch's rules are
a) also unofficial
b) pretty bad on their own
c) not needed
d) needlessly complicated
Not that they are relevat to the debate in any way. Come back when you have them in an oficial book, unless you want them treated as unofficial for which I (and probably a majority of other players) do not care at all. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

posted passively:
actually, Sleeping Dragon, some of the rules nicewitch Natanya Smith has posted are neither bad nor complicated, they are: prohibiting units from falling through black ice on pavement except for bridges (this makes sense given how such a unit on black ice on pavement can't fall through the ground unless maybe there's a tunnel/cave underneath that could collapse due to too much weight on top of it); blowing sand to impose a +1 piloting modifier penalty on VTOLs per winds force(this makes way more sense than having VTOLs destroyed by blowing sand, and a VTOL that's destroyed by blowing sand crashes, starts a fire, and then there's smoke and possible additional fire indicators to contend with on a mapsheet); omitting the jumping rule that requires a unit using jump jets/improved jump jets/jump pack(not a hyperspace jumping unit) to use the shortest path (this makes sense given how jump jets can provide for thrust vectoring to be BVwise so a unit can possibly impose a higher defensive target movement modifier on all attacks against it and it takes too much time to search for the shortest route not to mention there might be multiple shortest routes); for front torso armor and rear torso armor not limiting armor on the corresponding opposite side (this makes sense given the physics of mounting armor on those locations); and her vehicle critical hits table has good thought put into it and it's less complicated than the current vehicle critical hits tables (current conventional vehicle critical hits tables are disorganized and aren't merged together to provide for less printing); and i would say given that information, these rules therefore must therefore be officially published in TW/TM/TO
most of nicewitch Natanya Smith's rules are playable, again i'm not too thrilled about her rules for a few of her advanced ability traits such as Ghostly Maneuvering and Poltergeist since i think they should be substantially playtested _________________ "Okay friendlies, you're not paid to be exclusively a 'MechWarrior', vehicle/spacecraft crewer, fighter pilot, or infantry trooper.
