Do the different Clans have differences in fighting styles? I have never read anything in any books about hoy they fight or make their mechs.

One would think that they would, but I've also never seen it really spelled out.

The two Clan Field Manuals explain things fairly well. You just have to read the entire briefing on each clan, though. Also, reference Clan Honor rules, and their should be a chart somewhere that lists each clan and what Honor Level they usually fight at.

A lot of the differences in styles are only un-armored, etc. According to the Warden Clan book the Ghost Bears practice a lot of martial arts in the Sibkos, so the pilots are pretty good in hand to hand.
Actual 'mech to 'mech....less so. When it comes down to the style, they all follow the honor thing, which is straight foward and open combat. The different Clans will have different stratagies for how 'mechs are arranged...Wolf might send 4 heavies and 1 medium in a Star, while Ghost Bear will field 3 heavies and 2 mediums.
Best bet is to read up on all the Clans to get an idea of how their own philosophies are...that will translate into combat.

Yes they have different styles but can be boiled down to a common point......a losing style!
I'ts a shame Kerensky couldn't come up with a better system to fufill his dream of reclaiming Terra, and reinstalling the Star League for the good of all humanity.

Here Here my Kurita Brethern. Lets go teach these produced soldiers how true warriors are raised and fight. Honor is a joke to them, a game, a set of rules, not a code of conduct and behavior system.

We shall repulse these foreign invaders as we did the Smoke Jaguars. We will reclaim what the Ghost Bears have taken from us!

Well Raven I would have to agree with you the Snow Ravens have been my favorite for quite a while. I really like the heavy use of areospace fighters. And so you know we are already here whos warships were most of the Jade falcons using?

That being said. Let me answer Carl's question.
Yes, they do. But it is not divided into clans, But rather into the seprate galaxies. And is all based on their honor levels.
level 1- Will not break clan honor no matter what
level 2- Will break clan honor if the pilot they or he is fighting, But only to the one that broke it
Level 3- like level 2, But will inculde all of the opposeing forces
level 4- Does not fight with clan honor at all.
The honor levels of all the galaxies can be found in the FM Warden and Crusader clan books
Hoped that helps.

CC's talking about tactics not Honor.
I think he's refering to different Clans having different preferences in battle...

AAH, But to the clans (As if I need to tell you) The honor level effects the tactics of the unit.
But I do see your point. The Star Adders hardly use vehicles in battle. While the Hell's Horses are famous for that. S
o the answer is still yes. Diffrent clans do use diffrent styles and tactics for combat.

You know...read the 3050 TRO on the Omnis. Every once and a while you'll come upon something like "This faster mod with the Jump Jets is preferred by the Jade Falcons..." while "The heavier weapons of the C fit the Wolves style much more..."
You can piece together a few things. I know Ghost Bear favors the traditional, and doesnt like flashy stuff. The Grizzly, Kodiak and Exectuioner (Gladiator) text mentions that.
