Possible, but far fetched IMO.

Especially when you factor in the two AK-47s, a pistol and $750K in cash he had with him in that rathole he was in.

The only reason I dont by his being held captive is Why would you do it? And for who? You think your going to extort money from his now homless family? Or better yet get money from the U.S. for him? Binladen is going to give you money to keep him alive for their cause? All answers are a pretty resounding no.

I think what you were seeing was a personal hideaway that was manned with a supply of goods and money for a getaway. The only problem was he could never get away, the troops stayed and he couldnt leave the country with out being seen. 750K isnt a whole lot of money unless you are going to go to a country with a decent exchange rate to change your name and retire.

Apparently nobody bothered to read the story on the link I added

*shrug* whatever the true story is, the important thing is that he's behind bars. I'm not speculating anymore in this topic.

So how many think this capture is going to change the situation on the ground in Iraq? Personally, I think it's a little too early to say for sure. Saddam probably has a good deal of information on the resistance, but he probably doesn't know all that much at this point. Sure, the U.S. media is playing it up as a major victory, but what do they know? They've been wrong about so many things at this point I take it with a grain of salt. After all, it's kind of hard to run a resistance movement from an underground bunker, so I'm kind of wondering if capturing Saddam is too little, too late at this point. Of course, I could be wrong on this (I rather hope I am actually...). But I think it's too early to fully assess the impact Saddam's capture is going to have on the resistance fighters.

HEY!! I read it... Still doesn't mean I'm buying into the idea that he was being held captive. Rumors and speculation always run rampant when something happens. People/Magazines/News are always trying to make a story.

My company owner is Jewish, this is a common reference I see on the "threats" board. I keep an eye on it, but I waorry more about techniques to keep these guys out than rumors about who did what to whom. As far as I am concerned the dirtier they do each other, the more work it saves us.

Well, anyone loyal to Saddam is going to be disheartened.

As for the rest, it's one less guy bidding for power, aka "higher chances for my group". They'll get busy working, methinks.

And now you can go resistance fighter without being thought of as a Saddam loyalist. More recruits too!
