My first wife's Cousin was in the Federal Building when the bomb went off....
The only thing that saved his life was a bathroom break. The bathrooms were in the rear right corner...
His office was in the front of the building....

| After a good deal of thought about this, I have signed the petition. I still have a few reservations; after all, can a group not be both terrorist and separatist? Condemn terrorism, but never fail to understand it's roots, for the only true answer to terrorists is to uproot the hatred and resentment from which it springs. Until this issue is seriously tackled, no repraisal will ever be sufficent to win the "war on terrorism."

I have to thank you for signing the petition, it shows that even if you don't know much about the subject and are confused, it shows you have enough moral sense to know evil when you see it.
If you want an in depth explanation of what's going on in Spain, send me a private message. I'll be brief now.
You are under a very widely spread misconception, that terrorism is an expression on an underlying conflict, for example that oppressed minorities use terrorism as a last resort out of desperation.
Though it might be true in some cases, let's say, Chechnya, nobody can deny that the Russian army is brutal there; but blowing up innocent civilians in Russia that have nothing to do with what their government does is a crime against humanity.
There's no cause, no matter how noble it is, that justifies the murder of innocents.
And my friend, in the case of Spain, the terrorists are the ones that are the oppressors, a bunch of fanatics caught up in a insane delusion. The most accurate historical paralell would be the anarchists of the late 19th, early 20th centuries, or the Communist gangs sponsored by the KGB like the Baader Meinhof in Germany and the Red Brigades in Italy.
It's a crucial thing having to do with how we think and how we're made to think, and it really does hurt to see that bunch of murderers and bombers, who shoot in the back and target children, dignified by the term "separatist" or, even worse, as Reuters said, "guerrillas".
And yes, I'm aware that the problem is not limited to ETA terrorism, but also to Palestinian and Colombian terrorists, to name a few, but if US media fail to report accurately in such a clear cut case as this, what hope do other victims of terror have? You have to start somewhere.

Signed. And I agree that terrorists are different than separatists....
The ambiguity lies in the fact that there are some terrorists that might be separatists, and there are some separtists that might be terrorists, but, really, in order to get your politcal point across, terrorism isn't really the way to go... at least not in the 21st century when terrorists are hunted like dogs across the globe.

Well, I think a lot of times the label of "terrorist" is attached to whatever side is losing at the moment, and "military" to whichever side is winning. I am thinking specificially of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Fifty years ago, it was the Jews who were "terrorists."

Finally they did it..
so far ETA mainly targetted police, military, judges, local politicians and civilians in the Basque country
Finally they resorted to indiscriminate mass murder
3 explosions in trains at rush hour this morning 8 AM, over a hundred dead and hundreds wounded, this is the worst ETA crime ever
And CNN still calls them "separatists"
I'm all right, but I fear for some friends and classmates

Wish we had the death penalty like you people in the US.
This is horrible, my mother is a doctor and the hospitals are choked with 600+ wounded
And it could have been worse, aside from the bombs onboard the train cars, one went off in the station platform, and the police has defused several more on the trains that were timed to blow up the rescue workers.
