Overview:
The threat of the long range weapons easily fielded by the Clans
made the role of fire support a difficult one to maintain. Many Clan
direct fire weapons could match or beat the range of the Inner
Sphere's LRMs, the backbone of the fire support platform. Gauss
Rifles were replacing the LRMs at an alarming rate, and by 3058,
almost all FSMs were equipping them. The Gauss had its drawbacks
though. The direct fire weapon made firing at enemys behind a hill
impossible, and gauss rifles had a terrible tendency to overload and
explode when hit. TSi took a different approach to the situation
though.
Capabilities:
The Archer chassis has always been a favorite among the Inner
Sphere...its heavy armor, devestating weapons load, and high
survivability rate was always the recipe for a great design. But, it
lacked the range that a modern FSM needed to turn the tide of battle.
TSi took the ARC-4M Archer design, and added its own distinct
touch.
The first modification as to install the Nissan 280 Light engine,
providing the new Archer with the same performance, but allowing a
heavier weapons package installed. The 4 medium lasers were upgraded
to ER versions and a Small ER Laser was added to the head. The 2
rear lasers were moved into the ams to make room within the main
torso of the 'mech for the engine and massive Missile batteries. The
LRM-20 racks were removed and replaced with the ELRM-15 racks. These
new missile systems had a range nearly twice that of the old LRM
racks. Each launcher kept the Artemis IV FCS and is still supplied
with 2 tons of ammo each.
Deployment:
None of these new Archers has been seen on the field as of yet.
Known Variants:
The only known variant keeps the Original Archer's armor
configuration by dropping the ER Small laser and reinstalling the
armor where necessary.

Interesting design...I like it. Good use of the ELRMs. Nice solid mech.
I think I will be adding it to my files. Very nice.
