How can a group of Pirates have the skills and the factory to make endo steel???
I can see them at some point finding away to get a mech built, and maybe, just maybe having someone fianace their group via a mech factory, but having them being able to make endosteel and other HIGH tech items is a nuts.
Anyone else feel this way?

Yeah, but I don't let it bother me. I've learned to suspend logic when it comes to Battletech along with belief.

| Let me say this much... they were given the ability from those that aren't in the mainstream....

Even so there is NO WAY they can build the mech, think about it, once word get's out that the Totourga Domain has that kind of setup Davion and other pirates are going to come calling with two things in mind trash the complex and/or take it over.
Refitting mechs, sure I could see them doing that, but building one from scratch nope not likely. And if it's WoB, then they are doing nothing practical other then arming a group that will turn on them just as quick if it's to their advantage.

I think the Taurians would be on top of them before you could say, Marsh...
AWAD- I think many writers need to read real stories, then you can come up with vicious plot ideas

Reading the fluff in the TRO3067, it does say "cobbled together". Furthermore, the "Capabilities" section does state that just about everything is stolen or smuggled in some way. An assembly line is probably a lot simpler to keep going than a full mech` factory. Bring in parts, string them up and bolt together. Only thing I disagree with is the NEED the pirates would have for a standard FrankenMech design. They`d just be using whatever they could get, not agree on any standards beyond that. Besides, a non-standard mech is likely to get failures and breakdowns never seen before, so where are these pirates getting enough techs?

Honestly, prisioners most likely. At least that is one possibility. the other is that most mechs get the bare minimum of upkeep and have major problems as far as breakdowns and other malfunctions go.

It doesn't make sense for the Wobblies to be giving out technology the way that they are. The whole reason that they broke from ComStar was that Focht found Blake's notes saying that knowledge should be given freely, not hoarded. They were also kinda peeved when Focht announced that ComStar wasn't a religion afterall (the hoarding of technology being part of the old ComStar religion), but the main thing was the giving away of knowledge and tchnology that they had spent so meany years keeping hidden. So why are they now giving out all the goodies to anyone that lets them on planet? Not only that, but they friggin' gave the FWL the location of all of these derelict Warships so that they could boost their fleet strength like crazy. I know they want the IS to go down in flames so that they can be the saviours of humanity, but giving out technology would seem to run counter to their faith. Besides, you would think that they had learned their lesson about using pirates after the Red Corsair debacle.
