Variants:
Often described as the Shadow Hawk-2H, only moreso; the 5H model Shadow Hawk takes its
ancestor and builds on the foundation to make a capable multi-role BattleMech that is very
popular, if moderately expensive, in the mercenary and house line ranks. The replacement of
the standard fusion core with an extra-light engine has permitted the increase of its jump
range to a full 150 meters; as well as allowing almost all of the weapons to be replaced
with larger counterparts, enabling the 5H to hit far harder than the old 2H models.
The only original weapon kept is the medium laser mounted in the right arm. To add to this
weapon, the engineers mounted a second copy in the center torso of the 'Mech, while short
range firepower was further augmented by the replacement of the head-mounted pair of short
range missile tubes with a four pack of the same fed by a ton of reloads placed in the
CASE-protected right torso. A ten rack of long range missiles has been substituted for the
smaller 5 pack of missiles, and is fed by two tons of ammunition. The biggest change in the
weapons though is without a doubt, the replacement of the old type 5 autocannon with a new
dual-purpose type 10 autocannon. Capable of firing both standard rounds as well as cluster
shot, this cannon maintains the range of the old autocannon, but doubles the damage on those
it targets. Despite this increased payload, and the removal of two heat sinks, the 'Mech
remains cool running thanks to the use of double heat sinks.
