Hasn't been a new design on the board in a while...thought I might try a battle armor design instead of the normal 'Mechs...
Overview:
By 3150, the Lyran Commonwealth was teetering on the brink of destruction thanks to the depredations of both Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf, both of whom had stolen huge chunks from the once mighty nation. Military planners felt that something was needed that would help flagging morale, but that would also serve useful purposes on the field of battle. However, it would also need to be relatively inexpensive. Studies were done, and it was decided that one of the areas that needed the most assistance was in the LCAF's battle armor forces. From this initiative, the Soldat (Soldier) medium battle armor was forged.
Capabilities:
The Soldat project began with using the Grey Death standard battle armor suit as its basis. This design had been long lauded as a capable and versatile unit, but its lack of jump jets was seen as limiting by many. Knowing they wanted to add jump jets to the design, and yet retain its ground mobility and firepower, the engineers were faced with a quandary. Even if they used the most advanced armored plate the Inner Sphere could normally produce, they would have to sacrifice something somewhere. However, it was realized that if they used Clan-produced armor plating, enough mass would be saved to fulfill their goals, as well as actually giving them the ability to be even more creative in the design, even if they placed as much armor on the frame as it would allow. After fully armoring the design, making it capable of withstanding as much punishment as a standard Clan Elemental battle armor suit, it was found that there still existed room and mass on the design to install a detachable one-shot short range missile two pack, making the suit as capable as the Free Worlds League's Longinus medium battle armor. Additionally, a set of magnetic clamps could be added to the design to enable it to be carried by any tank or 'Mech, not just Omni-designs.
Offensively, in addition to the missile pack, the design contains a modular weapon mount on the right arm, with a 200 kilogram limit on the weapons utilized. This allowed for all standard Inner Sphere battle armor fair from small lasers, to flamers, to machine guns, or even a 4 shot SRM-1 or a light recoilless rifle. But, by far, the most preferred weapon to be used on the design is a Clan-produced anti-personnel gauss rifle acquired either as battlefield salvage, from their friends in Clan Wolf-in-Exile or purchased from Clan Sea Fox. The left arm's anti-personnel weapon mount also adds to the design's versatility, and its battle claw allows for anti-BattleMech swarm attacks.
Deployment:
Since first entering service, the Soldat battle armor has built an impressive reputation, and the quartermasters of most units are fielding a multitude of requests for more suits. The requests are so numerous that the factory cannot keep pace, and is currently years behind on production of the suits. There are plans to create additional factories on the most protected planets in what remains of the Commonwealth to attempt to bring more suits to the frontlines.

Really not a fan of mixedtech designs, but this is a good mix of mobility and flexibility _________________ If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
