My sentiments exactly, but we got to give the FFL props.
Jumping into Dien Bien Phu just to fight to the last man required some big brass ones.

since reading a siries about the legion in a future sci fi setting that used traditional legion info n tactics i have a higher respect for the legion.
book: legion of the damned, by blood alone.
two good books, theres four in the series.

Don't even mess with the FFL in sci/fi. Read The French Foreign Legion: A Complete History of the Legendary Fighting Force
by Douglas Porch. It's a long book (like 900 pages) but well worth the read.

As for the Euro-to-Dollar conversion rates, right now they should be pretty close to one for one.

Why don't you join? Disliking France is a bonus, actually, I cannot think of a better way of screwing la France than getting cadet into her army 
It's a pity the Spanish Legion doesn't take foreigners anymore, if I had one, I'd sold you my sister so you could marry her and get the nationality papers for enlisting

The 13th Demi Brigade of the FFL in French Indo-China were some mean M-F's. Of course it helps that they were mostly composed of ex-Nazi's, but what the hell. The Viet Minh were scared sh*tless by them.
