Overview
The Illusion is a light infantry support mech. The Illusion was manufactured in the
Outworlds Alliance by a number of players working secretly in the background in an effort to
create a bridge to unify attacking forces.

ComStar, the Federated Suns, and the Draconis Combine all labored intensely in the Outworlds Alliance, which had, somehow, become a major player in contributing to the construction of the Illusion. By contributing weapons, ammuntion manufacturing techniques, armor manufacturing pointers, and improvements in electronics, as well as setting up a plant to produce ICE engines for BattleMechs. The Outworlds Alliance expereinced a number of changes as it was litterly thrust into the 31st Century.

However, as the three major powers began to pour money and equipment into the Outworlds Alliance, their techs were unable to agree on how to assemble them into what they desired: a unit to bridge the gaps between fighting forces. It was, interestingly enough, an Outworlds Scientist who picked and choose the weapons, and with Outworld Techs chose to create the Illusion.

Capabilities
Designed to support infantry and vehicles in slow level assaults or defenses, the Illusion was not required to carry a huge engine. Although ICE engines tend to weigh more then their fusion counterparts, the engine itself was just fairly long, giving the Illusion an appearence similiar to a cross between the Marauder and the Raijin. With bird legs for
stability, the Illusion places a small profile and stable firing platform, both of which are very useful features when fighting in the built up areas that infantry perfer. However, this small size comes at some price. The most noticable to MechWarriors is the cockpit, which is cramped and uncomfortable, with barely enough survival equipment. The next most noticible thing is that the unit is far more cramped then a larger, more conventional BattleMech. The insides are mostly dedicated to the engine, gyro, and diesel fuel tanks. Most technicians assinged to work on the Illusion are complaining within the first week, especially if the Illusion they were assinged to saw heavy combat.

The main reason for this, is that the Outworlds Alliance wanted to cut costs at every cornor including the structural chassis. The EconoClass has never been very popular, even with utility mechs, yet the Outworlds Alliance purchases it almost exclusively for the Illusion, a front line combat unit. The reason for its cheapness and lightness come from the use of cheaper grade metals, which hightens wear and tear. Most Illusions are down for basic structural service every 10000 kilometers of regular travel, and only a whooping 250 kilometers when involved in combat!! This high maintance is infruiating to technicians, though many of them silently praise Time and A Half pay. The worst areas by far are the engine mounts and arm structures. As these see the most stress they also have to recieve the most attention.

Part of this stress is obviously due to movement, which the legs see quiet a bit of. The next bit, of course, comes from firing the weapons. Two light autocannons, built by the NAIS have been included in this design to give the unit good long range firing options. Able to inflict respectable damage against infantry, and even able to knock out a tank, the Dragon Fly systems are considered perfect for the job the Illusion is meant to engage in. The system is even capable of warding off scout BattleMechs, themselves usually only armed with short range firepower, and fairly weak fire power at that. As a defensive line mech, the unit excels, and if used properly with infantry and vehicle support, the Illusion can become a valued addition to many poorer worlds militaries.

Deployment
Currently the Illusion is only deployed on the worlds of the Outworlds Alliance. However, the Taurian Concordat and Magistry of Canopous have both been considering purchasing the unit. The Federated Suns have sent these units to the frontlines of its own bloodly little war, attempting to integrate them quickly into regimental combat teams to provide infantry cheap and effective fire support.

Varients
The only major variant being produced drops both LAC/2 units for two SRM 6 units, each with 15 volleys. Another Machine gun is added, and a full drum of 200 rounds is included for both machine guns, though it is mounted to the right of the machine guns, to give both room to fire from the center line. This varient has a huge amount of short range firepower and can make an excelent city defense unit or instilation cracker. There is usually 1 of these, known as an IL2, for every 12 IL1's.

Nice...Super power armor.

Would be use full in ambush of vehicles or light mechs.

EEK! actually armor should read like 3 tons, not five!!! My bad.

Yeah the unit is fairly good from ambush. But it is supposed to be used with Infantry (hence its very slow speed) i sorta of invision it as a small scout moving ahead of the main group and laying down some fire power till the rest come up and join it. It has enough armor to last a round or two, ok speed (able to avoid infantry at least, and some tanks if it uses terrain right), and alright fire power, though not the best. The SRM version is much stronger, but I sorta am fond of this one.
