After watching almost 8 hours of uninterrupted coverage of the one year anniversary of 9/11 an odd thing struck me.
Other than one time today, I don't recall the hijackers being mentioned as entities. And they were never mentioned by name.
In what I can only assume was a fit of wisdom Horhiro once said to me that hate requires an investment of emotion, and on some level, caring. Disinterest is a much colder reaction.
They thought we would remember their actions forever. The only things we recalled this day were bravery, sacrifice and loss.
As the Greek philosopher Homer said "Dulce et Decorum Est."*
