Like they said- the government was unable to distinguish between *any* computer game and electronic gambling. These things happen.
If you want a better example, check out http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/1718.html for an article I ran across elsewhere. Government in action, eh?

I edited Kraken's link to the correct URL.
I read a similar story the day of his conviction and I almost threw up. I donate money to the CBLDF all the time and sent them more that very day.
It is a blatant violation of his 1st Ammendment rights.

Wow! Makes me not want to buy Kalamata Olives and Feta cheese any more! What an oppressive society.

It looks to me as if the people in Greece should stop thinking about fighting the laws with words and just get themselves some guns and hold their game tournament and dare their govt to do something about it. If you won't take up arms and defend your freedom at a time like that, you're going to lose that freedom.
The people who passed that law had to know what they were doing when they did it. And I'll bet their reasons had little to do with stopping gambling and a lot to do with feeling a sense of power and control over others. So I can only say it looks like Greece needs another government. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

I ponder as to how a person can be convicted of anything for selling an adult comic to an adult. Or is it that it was actually sold to a child and they aren't bright enough to correct their typo.

As I understand it the buyer of the comic was in his 30s.

The people that passed that law are bureaucrats that probably don't even know what a computer game is.
Never attribute to malice what it is adequately explained by stupidity.
Still, I am shocked by the news. This is truly bizarre! =:O _________________ Memento audare semper

*sigh* Privacy and freedom is being slowly chipped away everywhere. Gaming and comics seem to get the axe faster than anything else though.
Way I see it, if they're bored, they might go commit a crime. Comic books, anime and games serve a useful purpose in my opinion, but often it seems these decisions are made by people who are badly informed, if at all. And worse, they don't seem to want to be informed.
I am reminded of an incident in which a priest torched Pikachu dolls and slashed them with a sword in a Sunday sermon bacause of three Pokemon's names. Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam. He thought the game encouraged black magic.
I wish common sense would make a comeback.

As much as we all want common sense to return- there's one little problem: The odds are against it. We are now seeing more and more people in this world without it. It's as if people aren't being born with it anymore. And if they are, there aren't too many sources nurturing it.
I mean, just how the **** can someone *not* tell the difference between Doom and slots unless they've never seen it?

If you've ever read Starship Troopers, then you'l know what I mean when I say that some days I think the worst mistake modern democracy has made was when everybody was allowed to vote without having to do anything to either earn the right or to prove themselves upstanding citizens who can employ logic and reason before being allowed to vote in an election.
The people in Greece who made that law are clearly not rational. And that vaunted Greek logic is not at all acquainted with their brains. But they are holding power in Greece because a majority of the Greek people voted to give it to them. In other words, far too many of the people in Greece are so dumb they should never have been allowed to vote. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

I never thought I'd say this, but maybe there should be a system like in the Capellan Confederation? Prove your worth for citizenship.

They`ll correct the law once people point out how absurd it is. No, wait, politicians and bureacrats don`t work like that. They`ll blame it all on someone else, and hope you`ll forget your original complaint once there`s someone to hurl rocks at.
