Overview:
See the [BASE] configuration for the history behind this mech. This and the following files
will focus more on the technical capabilities of each configuration.
Capabilities:
At first glance the Obsidian Idol is a fairly typical assault mech.
Maneuverability is on par with almost every 100 ton mech ever made. Armor
coverage is actually lighter then average with only 18.5 tons of standard armor
covering the chassis. What truly makes this mech is the weapons capacity. 59
tons of available pod space allows the Obsidian Idol to carry an unmatched
bite.
The B configuration
retains the arm mounted Gauss rifles and completes the configuration with a
trio of large pulse lasers enhanced with a targeting computer. The Continued
use of Gauss rifles actually prompted one of the few snafus in the Obsidian
Idol's design phase. A Wolf scientist suggested making these weapons fixed
since they were in every configuration to date, and making them fixed would
ease construction and maintance requirements. Fortunately for the Obsidian
Idol this idea was quickly snuffed out and the Wolf scientist was forced to
watch combat records of the now defunct Naga.
Deployment:
The B configuration has two main uses. It's brought into play when swarms of light units
are expected which will require splitting fire, and it's commonly used by the least skilled
Mech Warriors who somehow got lucky enough to join the Ebon Keshik. Fortunately the Ebon
Keshiks crushing training regimen will either weed them out or improve their skills to the
point they can use more powerful configurations to a degree fitting of the Ebon Keshik.
Variants:
The OKS mech this configuration is based on doesn't have a direct analog in our timeline.
Known as the "Reaper" it mounted 5 Large Pulse lasers backed by a targeting computer. Some
combat footage was found of a Reaper pilot lighting a hostile tree line on fire to create
smoke. Once it's opponent had positioned to take advantage of the smoke the Reaper then
demolished the burning trees, the smoke faded leaving its target standing in an open field
with no cover.

The search for Mice continues. It seems unlikely there are any, but after the NIHM wars
against Pinky we can't be too careful. A courier ship has been dispatched into the fold to
ask for assistance from the NIHM colony there. Just way too many places to hide on a ship,
and anything short of dropping it into a sun isn't guaranteed to work.
