Overview:
See the [BASE] configuration for the history behind this mech. This and the following files
will focus more on the technical capabilities of each configuration.
Capabilities:
At first glance the Obsidian Idol is a fairly typical assault mech.
Maneuverability is on par with almost every 100 ton mech ever made. Armor
coverage is actually lighter then average with only 18.5 tons of standard armor
covering the chassis. What truly makes this mech is the weapons capacity. 59
tons of available pod space allows the Obsidian Idol to carry an unmatched
bite.
After entering service with the Ebon Keshik the Obsidian idol continued to add
configurations as battle field experience was incorporated. The next configuration, D,
shares the C configurations Ammo deficiency, at its
maximum rate of fire it will deplete its ammo in less then two minutes.
Despite that, this configuration is quickly becoming one of the favored
configurations of the Obsidian Idol. A Trio of Ultra AC-10's with 6 tons of
ammo are tied into a Targeting computer. Backing up these weapons are five
Streak-4 Missile racks used with the idea of savaging any holes opened up by
the autocannon. The combination has proven devastating. Often overlooked is the inclusion
of ECM. While offering benefits against some advanced missile systems, it's main purpose
was to disrupt the small robotic vehicles the United Freemen used to fill out their ranks.
Deployment:
The D configuration is favored by younger mech warriors who just want to get into close
range and savage their opponents. This inevitably leads to Obsidian Idols that use this
configuration needing more repair time and replacements. Mechwarriors who survive their
brasch tactics soon learn the value of patience and range. But life is fast for Clan
Warriors, even in the Ebon Keshik. New replacements are always available when it's decided
to break the enemies lines at all costs.

So I was talking to the United Freemen troops about this mech. They tell stories of full
rapid fire autocannon bursts being directed towards a single spot on its target. I then
followed up asking about the B configuration. Same thing. Targeted shots with pulse lasers.
This is both impossible and something we know was possible in previous realities thanks to
the "Errata bouys" anchored in hyperspace folds resisting change long enough to make note of
the change. The really interesting part is that Branes keep track of their physics
separately. Whatever affected us to disallow that level of targeting computer function
never happened to them. Until they came here.
