=== Overview ===
The Ballista is the first in the line of highly prestigious weapon systems developed for export by the FrontLine Weaponry Corporation. FLW is pinning a lot of its hopes on the favor of the Ballista design, and is marketing almost exclusively to the minor powers of the independent worlds. With its low cost, and high durability, strong local warlords will probably perfer it to other weapons on the market.
=== History ===
This unit has gone through a lot since its prototype stage almost five years ago. FLW had to secure funding and other sources to support the personal fortunes of its founder, Mr. Charles Blank. His original company Blank Munitions, and its subsidary Rent-A-Weapon Inc, are both huge in the small arms deals across nearly 20 systems in the middle of the no-man's land between four of the major powers. Charls Blank attributes his success in the small arms market to two factors: his commitment to making a quality weapon, and his commitment to making those weapons affordable. At the press conference to announce the opening of FLW, another subsidary of Blank Munitions, he was quoted as saying, "And the success of this company will not ride on wars, or behind the scenes manipulations, but rather on the strength and quality of my workers, which is passed onto the machines they create!" This was greated with a round of applause from the factory workers, many of whom were taken from other war machine companies by being offered larger wages, taken out of the profits from Blank Munitions.
Despite his booming profits, many speculate that FLW will have to convince its customers to purchase the weapon systems it produces or it will all be for naught. This is what scares away potential investors, and has made Mr. Blank worried as well. He is going into a glutted market and needs to prove that his weapons will do the work, for a cheaper price, and with better results. This has yet to be determined.
=== Varients ===
FLW saves money by limiting the amount of CORE systems to one. As such there are no varients and since none are in the public's control yet, there are none there either. However many military analyists have been studying the design and plan on making their own announcment on the advantages of the design over others.
