==Overview:==
Another of the early Star League Industrial 'Mechs, the SLC-236MM Groundhog was designed to be the ultimate mining machine; able to burrow deeply into the ground and extract ore much faster than other mining techniques. Using previous geological studies and its extensive suite of sensors, this Mining 'Mech was able to find the purest ore on the planet and quickly excavate it, with minimal damage to the surrounding ecology.
==Capabilities:==
The Groundhog was designed by Federated-Boeing to be completely at home underground. The 'Mech's relatively short stature enabled it to easily enter even old mineshafts with minimal work. The LongWay ICE engine in the Groundhog couldn't produce much speed, but was fuel-efficient and produced relatively few emissions.
Utilizing the massive drill on the 'Mech's left arm, the Groundhog was able to burrow into the earth with alarming speed, scooping up rubble and ore with it's right arm to be stored in the large cargo bay until the Groundhog returns to the surface. A huge floodlight also enables it to light up the entire mine for other miners working with it.
==Variants:==
While purchasing and renovating whatever Groundhogs they could find, Alliance Mining and Geology has come across several armed Groundhogs. Designated the SLC-286MM, these carry a lighter structure and half a ton less armor. All the cargo capacity is removed to mount an SRM4 and two LAC/2s, both with a ton of ammo.
==Deployment==
The Outworlds Alliance has been scrambling to get their hands whatever Groundhogs they can to help exploit their plentiful resources. Alliance Mining and Geology has received the license on the Groundhog and soon the Alliance may be exporting them.

I wonder if this thing should be a quad, so it could fit into smaller tunnels or do you just stripe mine?

It's long but short, similar to the Bushwhacker. Anyhow, arms are useful, so I prefer a shorter bi-ped to a quad. It would work best tunneling into a hill or mountain though, no doubt about it.
