This is for customizing mechs in a Solaris campaing. If you have a mech already is it possible to customize it with endo-steel? It would seem that you would have to take the whole skeleton out to replace it.

I think that's exactly what you'd have to do. So you'd need a whole lot of techs and experience to do it.

No rules say you can not and in the Max tech rules it reeeeally does not take that long. Now me as a GM...... never allowed, also ,made MASC damn difficult, XL and ferror fibrus a pain in the arse also. IF I can find that chart I would post it.... or email it.
AWAD- who has tons of stuff he needs to post or email

But it isn't like replacing a weapon. It's more like replacing the frame of a car.

I would go easy on Ferro armor. If the original armor was mostly blasted clean away, i would allow it to be mounted. The only thing is making sure that there is enough space for the joints to move (which would be indicated by having enough criticals: if the mech has enough crits for the armor, then it can mount it just as it would regular armor). The reason I say this is that ferro armor is on the outside, nothing really is changed to add it.

I think that it should be very difficult if not near impossible. Crikey, think of what Wolverine had to go through to get his skeleton covered with andamantium!

FF was always a good refit project. Endo was always a good new Mech Project....

I would think engines would be possible to replace. But how would you fit an XL in a mech that had a std before?

its best to add in some tech level 3 stuff.
such as patchwork armor.

Im hoping our GM will let us bring some MaxTech stuff in. This is Solaris. Besides I'm willing to pay.
I want to be able to take an AC/20 to the head with my hardened armor. I lost my first battle to a headshot and then I bet 2 million C-bills at 3:1 on a battle that ended from a head shot.

oh that is brutal.
well first off.
if you're playing 3060 and onwards, the GM SHOULD let you have access to everything.
but if you start using tech lvl 3, he's going to as well.
and if he asks me to munchkinize his forces against you, i just might do that

Why "should" a GM do anything? The GM is the person who determines what fits in his campaign and what doesn't. If level 3 items don't fit in his campaign why "should" he include them?

Too Right! The GM will allow or disallow what he/she feels is useful in the campign.
