I read today that representatives of the Vatican have declared that the Harry Potter books are not satanic, and in fact, only uphold good moral, Christian values...
Take that you all you bookburning fanatics!

the only thing in harry potter that, to me, smacks christianity in the face is the use of magic. the rest has very good morals, and any christan parent worth there weight would allow there child to watch it with the warning about the magic.
and book burning is in my opinion a horrendious practic. such practices do not teach anything but hartred and thats very much against the teachings of christ.
now i'll shut up before chihawk or mordel restrict the topic, lol.

It`s not the book burning that`s a sin, but the pride and ignorance of the persons who think it`s their duty. To be fair it`s not only hard-line christians who burn books, any really radical movement can get the idea. In Hitler`s Germany the Nazi Party held big book burning events, where they burned 'decadent' books, essentially stuff the Party leaders thought was bad for some reason.

Didn't the term 'Decadent' apply to all books not in line with the Party's agendas? Like all fiction, non-fiction and reference books not written by, about or for the good of the Party....

Not to forget art of the wrong type, ie art the Party leaders didn`t like.
The Soviets probably got rid of a lot of stuff too, but they didn`t film it
