Game Over
Microsoft Corp. has reportedly stopped selling copies of a new X-box game called Kakuto Chojin because some of the background music contains passages from the Koran and their use in such context might be offensive, reports Gamers.com.
Microsoft said the language included a calling for prayers, and that it ?deeply regret(s) this error and apologize(s) to anyone who may have been offended by the material."
Many of the games were destroyed, it said, and shipped copies are being recalled from the few stores that received them.
"Microsoft is a company that values and promotes diversity and we remain very sensitive to cultural issues - including a deep respect of all religious practices,? the company said in a statement. ?Microsoft and the Xbox division apologize for the mistake and have taken all appropriate actions."
My Commentary: From a business standpoint, the sudden recall and destruction wasn't that good an idea. By recalling it so soon, it leaves them with most of the unsold product to destroy, making the surviving copies exceptionally rare and potentially very valuable, thus generating even more publicity. They actually could have had less publicity and still have come out less scathed had they shipped most of the copies and instead offered refunds/merchandise replacements.

Well, from a professional standpoint (and as I work in the video game industry...I can lie and say I am a professional), this was a VERY good move by Microsoft.
The game is TERRIBLE anyways. Possibly the WORST fighting game I have ever played...and that includes being worse than Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game. By pulling the game off the shelves and making some lame-ass excuse that it has passeges from a literally text, they save themselves face in the public eye by saying they are good guys...and in the gamers eye Microsoft is seen as having redeemed themsleves for even producing such a crap-fest of terrible gaming.

Yeah, you can file that under "This game sucks so we'll stop selling it"
