Of course this is alot smaller than what I have planned. But it does give an idea of the basics.
Is this close to chihawks?

It's very close....our track is 4 "lanes" wide and has walls that are high enough to block LOS, plus is 2 mapboards in size.
Your's looks pretty good though.

I working on a much bigger verison. (6 map sizes) And I plan to keep the LOS.
But for some reason. the Maximus editor is not being very coropertive. So I whiched to the BME. which has nowhere the details I wanted. But I can save it as a BMP file and upload to here.
I am going to alfa test it tonight. (The verison above). But the finshed product should be ready before the April 6th gameday.
I plan to ask for alot of advise from you in the future for this project. But you name will be on the final verison as well as Mordel's

6 boards will be too big.
And make sure Pinhead's name is on it too...he did a lot of the design work on the original track

How many boards do you recommend? And any ideas on how to use Maxius?

I recommend only 2 boards, with half the figure 8 on each.
I'm going to run a PBeM on our track as soon as a couple details are worked out.

The original figure 8 track covers 2 boards. It was designed to be that way due to a desire to finish the event in a 4 hour time window, and the desire to:
1) Force a certain closeness of the mechs as they skated around the track
2) Allow someone with good tactics to maneuver his mech through the minefield of people shooting at him.
A smaller track will reward those driving heavies.. A larger track those who drive lights.
There are 4 starting locations, one just before and just after each of the loops. This allows 16 mechs to start without huge pileups in the first two or three turns.
The center of each turn is a concrete pillar 10 levels high which does not allow a mech to jump over, nor anyone line of sight through it. A jump going around the corner is measured, by the shortest line completely within the racing area.
A mech MUST attempt to move in the forward direction at least one square each movement phase. This means that if you have fallen you MUST attempt to rise. If you are down, and cannot attempt to stand, then the crowd decides your fate. Thumbs up we use lasers.. Thumbs down we use AC20s.

When (no longer "if") I run the race via PBeM I'll be giving the players all the details. As Pin has said the race is for 16 mechs, so I'll be filling slots by "invitation" first, and then when those invited are in or out I'll post looking for additional players.
I'm thinking that people that don't get a chance to go to TotalCon to play this "live" will get first shot, but the 1st invite will go to CC as he missed out in the last PBeM due to e-mail difficulties.

That's Mordel's map maker, which is still in beta....e-mail him and I'm sure he'll let you have it to test

It's the BME. Not the Maximus. I haveing some issue with the Max.
The BME is available on Mordel's download section. I much prefer the Max. But BME is just as good. But nowhere near as detailed.
