He died of a heart attack in Paris today..."Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistable" just won't sound the same now...

One of the country video channels shows that video Shania Twain did making fun of Addicted to Love. I think that I'll be hating it more than I usually do now.

Am I remembering wrong or wasn't Robert Palmer the lead man for Led Zeppelen? And if I recall right, how come I have yet to hear anyone on a radio station mention that. The only great song of his they say by name is Addicted to Love. LZ was a huge band in their time, you'd think one of these news types would remember that. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

Rober Palmer was the lead singer for Power Station, which included many of the members of Duran Duran.
Robert Plant is the lead singer of Led Zepplin.

Palmer sang back-up for several artists before some members of Duran Duran (IIRC, Jon Taylor, Andy Taylor, and Roger Taylor) asked him to front their solo act, Power Station.
Based off of his success with Power Station, Palmer decided to go solo in his own right. Addicted to Love was his first major single and the video (plus three subsequent others) stretched what was acceptable on MTV at the time.

Incorrect....big time wrong there too.
Robert Palmers first record came out in 1974, called Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley...his first big hit was Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) in 1979.
He had several Top-40 hits prior to joining Power Station. Funny thing is he wasn't supposed to even be a member, he came in only to sing Some Communication. Bebe Buel was supposed to sing Bang A Gong but broke up with John Taylor just before finalizing the recording.
Palmer never toured with them because they weren't supposed to tour but the album did so well they decided too, but Palmer was already out on tour and couldn't join them. Many fans claim the Palmer simply walked out on Power Station that in fact is untrue, Palmer's solo tour was already scheduled the year before.
He was replaced by Michael Des Barres, who was with the band when they played Live Aid.

What's funny about this is that Palmer said that when he recorded it, the girls weren't even in it...they were filmed later and edited into the footage...

I used to work as a DJ at several local rock stations (and still fill in on a couple, but VERY infrequestly as of late as I'm not rated on the new equipment) so that's the kind of stuff I know.
The best way to keep the drunk from calling back is to quickly figure out what song he wants and play it so he won't call back.

I too work/worked at a radio station ( 88.1 fm. W.Y.C.E. Wyoming , Michigan) and remember 'Doctor,Doctor' pretty good for the era.... But Mr. Palmer just wasn't my cup of tea. Powerstation got old REAL durn quick, altho I liked the 'alternate' version better. " Get it on, do a bong,ect...."
Speaking of Alternates.. seen Weird Al's "Addicted to spuds" live in concert, almost made me weep...( with laughter) but his best parady has to be "Trigger happy" or maybe "you don't love me anymore..."
Ah well there's my buck and a quarter. ( infaltion don'tch know...)
