An oldie but a goodie. This is, by far, one of my favorite home made designs.

Overview:
The Jaguar is a pinacle of Combine engineering. Commisioned in
3054 the Jaguar was to be the Black Jaguar of the combine, used to
fight the Smoke Jaguars ravishing the border.
Four years of research and development went into this machine. A
secure facility on Al Na'ir, built soley for the purpose of designing
this mech, was the center of research should Luthien have fallen.
Comstar and Combine scientists worked to create a deadly and functional
light mech, able to take on the worst the Inner Sphere or Clans could
dish out and still remain on top.
Capabilities:
The Jaguar is a premier raider/recon machine. It was designed from
the begining to operate alone, and operate efficiently. It is also
an example of compromise.
The Combine scientists knew that the new machine would have to be able
to be supplied from existing stock piles as all money would be going to
support actions against the Smoke Jaguars. As such the Jaguar would have to
be a combination of many mechs, rolled into one mech.
The first job that the scientists set forth for themselves was the
research of the best scouting machines. Though machines like the
Hussar, Hermes, and Mercury were set forth, not enough of these
were in Combine hands to warrant large stock piles of parts. They
finally settled on the Stinger and Wasp, two of the most common
scouting machines anywhere within the Inner Sphere. Mounting the
equivalent fire power of both those designs, plus some, the Jaguar was
given its bite and its claws. However it would need the ability to
survive tough fighting against tough odds.
To help in its roll of survival the Jaguar was given a thick hide of
Ferro Fibrous armor. Much of this was being produced in the Combine
and could be supplied quickly and efficiently. It only rose the price
of the Jaguar by a small fraction as well, it was considered worth it
in the name of survival. The armor is so thick on the torso that it
can withstand a PPC hit with no internal damage. This feature is
highly marketed.
However as a recon machine, and even as a raider, communications and
tracking systems were badly needed. With a resurgance in Spiders in
the Combine military, the comm and tracking system of that venerable
design was included. This gives the Jaguar an incredable recon ability
at a very small price. Comstar has been supplying the system and
also has included manuals and developmental notes for the use of
repair. As such the computer systems on board the Jaguar are one of
the simplist to use.
To help in raiding or recon during night time, a large search light
was included in the design. With the addition of the search light
this machine is considered a well rounded mech, both manuverable and
deadly. Able to fight vehicles, infantry, and mechs alike, it will
definitly become a viable addition to Kurita forces over the years.
The Jaguar has been seen as a raider. Running in behind enemy lines
and destroying munitions, repair depots and even damaging reserve
forces. It can run two rolls and is a respected force in either.
Deployment:
Since the development of the test model on Al Na'ir in early 3058,
three plants have been converted to start producing Jaguars over
Stingers and Wasps. On Al Na'ir a small plant has opened which
produces about twenty a year.
The Jaguar is deployed exclusivly within Combine and Comstar
militaries. It has already proven itself time and again in combat,
and served with distinction in Operation Bulldog, running quickly to
Smoke Jaguar munitions and detonating or capturing them.
Varients:
Only two varients are on the way. The 10D, for use by the Star League
Defence Force, mounts a Streak SRM 2, half a ton of machine gun ammo,
and two medium pulse lasers. The Flamer was dropped.
The other varient, the 12T-K, takes away the flamer and replaces it
with a C3 Slave unit. The machine guns, ammo, and two medium lasers
are replaced by two medium pulse lasers. This version is seen more as
a skirmisher then anything else. Running fast through a battle giving
bigger mechs the chances they need to cut through the enemy forces.
However, neither of these varients are in production yet and only exist
as test models at the Al Na'ir Jaguar Production Facilities and Luthien
Armor Works.
