Overview
The Heron was designed by scientists within the Taurian Concordat to provide powerful and deadly, yet cheap, fire support. Based off of the successful Rocket Launcher weapon systems, the Bomb Cluster weapon system seemed to be answer that was needed, and the Heron was built around carrying enough bombs to make any attacking force have a hard time.

With two SRM launchers and two heavy miniguns, the Heron is also capable of limited air superiority roll, but is actually lightly armed compared to aerospace fighters. However, the overwhelming numbers of Heron's that can be thrown into a fight usually makes up for that loss.

Althoug the rugged design allows it to take off from any flat field or road, it still needs a lot of room to get airborn. As such, the Heron is not as flexable as a Guardian or VTOL, but still performs well enough to earn it the respect of her enemies.

Slow compared to ASF lights, but definately has them outgunned.

Thats the point Smile its a defensive fighter, it doesn't need speed to race to a battle, and in a dogfight it has them outgunned. GRR! Smile

Need to look it up but I think you can put only as much armor in tons as is your internal structure. This is why conventional aerospace has always been so fragile. It was 16 pts per ton, and the locations are cockpit, fuselage, right and left wing, and I think tail. Cockpit has a max of 16 pts. I am doing this off of memory but I use to make a ton of conventional fighters to mess with the PCs.

AWAD- Nothing like a conventional fighter with hordes of SRMs to go after wounded mechs
