Ok i'm working on some design concepts when I should be working on my hw, but thats ok!

Anyway one of my cooool concepts is the following:

CIM-9 Crazy Ivan
Tonnage - 35 tons
Spd - 6/9/6
Internal Structure: Endo Steel
Heat Sinks - 10
Armor - 5 tons

Weapons:
LAC/5 (RA)
Ammo (LAC/5) 40 (RA)
Thunderbolt 5 (LT)
Ammo (TB5) 24 (LT)
ER Medium Laser (LA)

Basically what i'm invisioning here is a light skirmishing unit that is highly mobile, heat efficient, and carries a good enough mixture of weapons to be good in almost all situations. Definitly a medium range skirmisher.

what do you guys think?

Since you're working with L2, you don't need to go ammo dependent. Double heat sinks on a light easily give you the heat dissipation ability to deal with energy weapons while still running totally cool. For example, you can have a 35 t 6/9/6 with a std. engine, full armor, no FF or ES, but with 5 ERML and 15 dHS. That would give you a light medium range brawler with real firepower. Drawback: you get a ridiculously high BV because of the firepower combined with heat efficiency. Of course, it also tends to be a bit boring - ho hum, yet another ERML monster...

Well, I've designed many energy mechs, and I'm kind of sick of doing those Smile I mean you can only do so many before it gets boring. Thats why I usually stick with Lvl 3 to expand my design horizons.

Yep, that's an undeniable factor. Nevertheless, a LAC5 is a rather unsuitable weapon for a light 'Mech. Too much weight for the damage potential. The missile launcher is more interesting. Perhaps the real solution is to combine the tried and true (ERML or perhaps PPC) with the fun and unusual (T-bolt missiles).

Who doesn't? It's why I try so hard to focus on lasers as backup weapons. I've had a few designs with no lasers at all, and they work fine.
