Tell me if this is right:
A mech with 7 internal structure remaining in its right arm gets hit with a large laser there. The arm is blown off and the point transfers to the armor of the RT, which in this case has not been breached. Because they hit the internal structure, though, the person who fired the large laser gets to roll for criticals in the right arm. They roll and get an "8", thus getting to roll for 1 critical hit. However, since the right arm is no longer there the crit transfers to the RT. Thus they get to roll for a crit in a location that has not been breached (without rolling snake-eyes)?
Is that right?

This is what the Precentor Martial had to say (from CBT) when asked a similar question:
"Q: If a ‘Mech has 2 points of internal structure left in its right torso along with 3 critical slots of equipment and the right torso takes 2 more points of damage to its internal structure, do you still roll for possible criticals even though everything in that location is treated as though it was critically hit when that location was destroyed?
A: Yes. Every time you damage the internal structure-regardless of whether that Location has its internal structure destroyed by said damage-you have a chance for a Possible Critical Hit.
If there is a roll for possible critical(s) do any criticals transfer to the center torso?
On page 36 of the BMR, it states, “TRANSFERRING CRITICALS: If all of the possible slots in the damaged area took critical hits in previous phases, or if there were no items that could be affected by critical hits in the location in the first place, the critical hit transfers to the next location per the Damage Transfer Diagram. Critical hits to the center torso and head do not transfer.” So, lets take the Stalking Spider 2, from last nights game, as an example. At the time that Bryan did damage to my Right Torso, that destroyed all the internal structure, he had only done 2 previous criticals. As such, there were still 5 slots filled, which means that any additional criticals would not transfer. If, however, in a previous Turn, Bryan had critted out all 7 slots in the Right Torso, then any additional critical hits would transfer.
What this means, is that although Bryan had the chance at more criticals, we knew they would have no effect and so did not roll. When the above situation does have an effect, is when a Location has an explosive slot (ammo/equipment). When a Location is destroyed due to internal structure depletion, it does not explode ammo/equipment. So, if the Stalking Spider 2 had ammo in the Right Torso, Bryan would have rolled for the Possible Critical Hit when the Location was destroyed, in the hopes of getting a critical and hitting the ammo, thus causing an ammo explosion.

That is from 1998, and for some reason I think that interpratation may have been changed. I will continue to look to see if it has.

Thanks chihawk. Ha! See Talen, I told you that call was bad. You see, my Hauptman became useless when, due to misunderstanding that rule, a crit was passed to my RT which destroyed my LB-20X.
I demand a rematch! (although I'll still buy you lunch at In&Out)

I never disagreed with you during the match. I even thought it was kinda a lame call...
And I still accept the challenge!
In the words of I dont know how many people "Bring it on!"
